Job Description

Assistant Utility Systems Superintendent 2.3 2.3 out of 5 stars East Palatka, FL 32131 JOB This is a full-time, exempt position that reports to the Public Works Director or designee. The position performs supervisory and highly responsible technical work in utilities operations. Duties include managing and coordination of all activities of the assigned division, coordination and administration of annual budgets, submissions of departmental compliance reporting to local, state, and federal regulatory agencies. This position would follow a (4) day work week and 10-hour shifts (7:00am – 5:30pm with a 30 minute lunch). This schedule is subject to change at any time at the discretion of the Executive Director of Public Works to accommodate operational needs, including but not limited to coverage for vacations, sick leave, and holidays.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

Responsible for maintenance of water and wastewater treatment plants and coordinates the system responsibilities such as: connections, chemical treatments, equipment operations, grounds maintenance, water quality complaints, hydrant flushing, etc.

Assists the Lead Operator with overseeing the compliance of the facility with state and federal regulatory mandates, statues, and guidelines.

Conduct monthly meter reading with provided systems. Perform lockouts, turn-offs, and turn-on of services due to non-payment or emergency situations. Provides support to ensure that all daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting is accurate and submitted in a timely manner; to ensure sampling schedules are met. Oversees the work of personnel under his/her supervision.

Provides training to staff in current codes, ordinances, statutes, and in proper safety procedures. Coordinates with the department and bureau safety officers on safety inspections, issues, and follow-ups.

Responsible for the upkeep of all production wells.

Must be able to respond to emergency and after hour calls at night and on weekends.

Assists in the preparation and administration of section operational budget.

Prepares project cost estimates, orders or requisitions material and equipment to facilitate repairs.

Procures and controls the use of supplies and equipment. Performs related work as assigned or required.

May be required to assist with emergency support functions (ESF) in the EOC during emergencies or other related emergency duties.(These essential job functions are not to be construed as a complete statement of all duties performed.
