General Summary:

Under close general supervision performs general plant duties while obtaining training in the operation of a treatment plant. Reports to the Water Plant Manager.

Description:

Studies laboratory procedures and takes tests to become a plant operator Obtains on-the-job training in general plant operation procedures and methods May conduct general plant duties to include regulating the rate of flow of water to and from filters, putting filters into and out of line, washing filters and regulating machines, adding chemicals to water under treatment; replenishes machines with chlorine and polymer as needed Reads and changes a variety of charts and meters Informs the Plant Superintendent of any mechanical defects Assists with the maintenance, repair and overhaul of machinery and equipment; assists with the maintenance and/or rebuilding of lime slaker, feeder and pumps, polymer pump and other apparatus as needed Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Valid Florida driver’s license required High school diploma required 0 – 11 months of experience in related field preferred Water Operations certification must be obtained within (2) years of service with the City Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities Applications may be obtained from the Human Resources Department, or from our website www.cityofedgewater.org Education documents must be submitted at time of application
