Heavy Motor Equipment Operator 5.0 5.0 out of 5 stars 50 Payson Avenue, Easthampton, MA 01027 The City of Easthampton is seeking to fill the position of Heavy Motor Equipment Operator within the Department of Public Works, Highway Subdivision. This position operates heavy equipment, performs manual labor, related to the construction, maintenance, and repair of public works infrastructure; inspects the equipment for proper operating condition, carries out preventive maintenance procedures; related work as required. Ability to work extended periods of time during emergencies.

Job Type:

Full-time and benefitted.

Schedule:

Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week.

Salary Range:

$20.34 – $23.59 per hour.

Essential Functions:

Operates Class B trucks and Class 2 and 4 hydraulic equipment normally assigned to a public works equipment operator. Type of equipment varies by the assigned division. Inspect equipment prior to operation to assure that all controls and safety devices are functioning properly. Lubricate and otherwise service the equipment as part of a programmed preventive maintenance schedule. Report malfunctions to the Foreman or Supervisor. May assist in making repairs. Performs related manual labor work. Perform similar or related work as required or as the situation dictates.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent; and one year of related work or technical training to perform assigned duties at the journeyman level; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Requirements (•within 6 months of hire) Massachusetts Class B Commercial Driver’s License Massachusetts Class 2A, 4G or 4E Hoisting Engineer’s License OSHA 10 Certification.
