Summary of Job Duties:
The Central Utilities Foreman supervises central heating & air conditioning plant operating and maintenance personnel. This position coordinates, schedules, and supervises operation and maintenance of steam & chilled water plant equipment; supervises the operation and maintenance of remote boilers & chillers; and performs liaison and employee training activities as assigned. This position will be on-call for after-hours emergencies and during inclement weather, if needed.
Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job function of this job, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma
At least five years experience in central utility plant operations and maintenance
Completion of required education or training along with the required license or certification in the following skilled trades: Electrician, HVAC, Plumbing, Plant Operations
At least 10 years of experience in related trade
At least one year in a leadership capacity
Valid Driver’s License
Boiler Operator License
Preferred Qualifications:
At least four years of supervisory experience
Power Plant Operator Certification
Experience with Natural Gas Pipeline
Experience with FAMIS (departmental software)
Experience using OverNight software
Experience with Emerson Process Management valve and systems
Experience with turbine operations
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of the principles, practices, methods, and safety precautions in plant operations
Knowledge of the laws, regulations, and codes relating to plant operations
Knowledge of management and supervisory principles and techniques
Knowledge of the state budgetary process
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, manuals, schematics, building plans, and/or work drawings
Manage procurement process, materials ordering and inventory management
Ability to supervise skilled trades workers and/or supervisors
Ability to plan and coordinate all phases of service, repairs, installation, and/or construction projects in one or more of the skilled trades
Basic use and understanding of Microsoft Office products and CMMS systems for Work order management
