Job Description
Technical Supervisor is responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and approving test results for routine work as well as for new or repair equipment/systems. Provides technical consultation to operating and maintenance groups, which is essential to the integrity and reliability of the steam system. Direct and supervise mechanics and technicians with maintenance work, calibrations and tests ensuring they are conducted safely, efficiently and correctly. Recommend, develop, and implement new designs and processes to improve reliability, productivity and reduce costs. Lead troubleshooting efforts and coordinate repair and restoration of equipment to minimize outages, control costs and improve reliability. Required Education/Experience High School Diploma/GED and 8 years’ work experience working in a steam facility, power plant or other electrical or mechanical environment. or Bachelor’s Degree and 3 years’ work experience working in a steam facility, power plant or other electrical or mechanical environment or Associate’s Degree and 6 years work experience working in a steam facility, power plant or other electrical or mechanical environment Relevant Work Experience Must have prior supervisory experience managing union forces. Required Must be able to read electrical schematics. Required Possess strong communication skills with the ability to work as part of a team consisting of multiple departments and vendors. Required Knowledge of steam metering systems, control systems, troubleshooting malfunctions, electrical component and test evaluation, acceptance testing, technical report writing, operational auditing, work flow analysis, employee relations, and safety Preferred Knowledge of steam service classifications, steam bills and billing inquiries and irregularities Preferred Licenses and Certifications Driver’s License Required Physical Demands Must respond to system emergencies Must work at field locations in all weather conditions Must carry tools and materials, climb ladders and scaffolds, and enter confined spaces Must work in, under, and on top of all types of company vehicles/equipment Must work in an environment that includes heat, noise, confined spaces, and high elevations Must climb ladders and stairs Must work on elevated platforms, scaffolds, catwalks, roofs, or equipment Must work in inclement weather and adverse conditions (i.e., excessive heat, cold, noise, confined spaces) Must be approved and able to wear either a full- or half-face respirator without facial hair or other condition that may interfere with the seal, in accordance with OSHA regulations. Must stand, walk, and climb ladder and stairs for a whole shift Must walk, stand, lift, climb, bend, kneel, stoop, and/or reach Must travel to company locations to work on storm restoration and heat contingencies Must use eye-hand coordination to adjust controls on equipment Must wear all necessary personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including; fire retardant clothing and safety harness Must work rotating shifts, including nights, midnights, weekends, and holidays Must work with equipment with manufacturer weight rating of 350 llbs. Must be able to use equipment with a maximum weight rating of 375 lbs when wearing and/or carrying 25lbs of clothing and equipment. Additional Physical Demands Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers. Leads troubleshooting efforts and coordinates repair and restoration of equipment to minimize outages, control costs and improve reliability. Maintain the Quality of Customer Service and Quality of Life Indices to acceptable levels. Review and write procedures for proper operation and maintenance of facilities. Monitor, order and account for material, supplies and equipment. Schedule personnel to optimize productivity and meet operating goals and budgets. Supervise Commercial Technical Representatives investigating steam billing inquires, obtaining remote and onsite billing data and maintaining metering phonelines. Review metering data and associated pressure district information to ensure billing accuracy. Work with Customer Operations, Steam Services, Engineering, and other groups to investigate and resolve billing issues and to minimize estimated bills.
