Baler Operator Position Available In Lycoming, Pennsylvania

Baler Operator County of Lycoming Montgomery, PA 17752 DESCRIPTION The Baler Operator will be responsible for the safe operations of the container line baler and the fiber line baler, and the conveyors that supply materials to the balers in the Materials Recovery Facility (MRF). The Baler Operator is also responsible for operating the lift gates, and bunker conveyors that control the materials being baled. This position reports to the Recycling Supervisor and MRF Coordinator.

SPECIFIC DUTIES

Operates the container and fiber balers in a safe manner following manufacturer’s specifications and County policies. Operates the control panel to mechanically lift gates, and operate the different conveyors that move materials to the balers. Performs operator level preventative maintenance on designated pieces of equipment reporting any problems or repairs needed. Supervises the PRC work crew as needed. Assists with the cleaning of the recycling center as needed. Operation of forklifts, skid steers, and wheel loaders may be necessary for this position. Performs tasks for other RMS divisions as assigned, including but not limited to earth moving operations, waste movement operations, gas collection operations, leachate operations, recycling collection operations, recycling processing operations, transfer station processing operations, and support functions. Provides back up to Shipping Clerk Moves baled material to designated storage areas

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Assists in the supervision and accountability of the PRC work crew as needed.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is conducted normally indoors in an area with exposure to hazards associated with landfill/recycling center equipment (moving parts, moving equipment, electrical devices, odors, dust, etc.). Occasional work outdoors as needed in all weather conditions. Normal work hours are 7 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Monday thru Friday with occasional mandatory and voluntary overtime.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Requirements include two (2) years related experience. Ability to read, write and speak English Completion of PRC supervisory training. Possession of a valid PA driver’s license. Must submit to and pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check per County policy.
