- While in training toobtain an NRC License the initial license trainee will engage in acombination of classroom instruction, simulator training, andon-the-job experience, to acquire the essential skill and knowledgeto meet the qualification for a Senior Reactor Operator Licenseholder.
Upon completion of the qualification the candidate will befully licensed by the NRC to supervise the operations of thereactor control room. rovide direct oversight of Constellation’sNuclear Power Generating Station (or site name?) operationsincluding directing Reactor Operators in controlling plantoperations, Equipment Operators in field operations, procedure useand tagging evolutions.
- Completion of Fundamentals Phase, completion of SimulatorCertification, acquiring SRO status, attainment of NRC SRO License(80%) Study time, field time needed to attain licensed status(10%) Project work, outage assignments, or duties as assigned tosupport the site operations (10%)
- Job Responsibilities Authorize maintenance and testing activities to ensureequipment status is maintained. Responsible for implementing Emergency Operating procedures anddirecting the required procedural steps to stabilize the plantfollowing emergency or abnormal conditions.
- Evaluate and respond to issues, findings, open items, andrequests originating internally and externally from theorganization.
Oversee special projects determined by the OperationsDirector/Operations Managers. Responsible for creating, revising, and reviewing EmergencyOperating Procedures and Abnormal Operating Procedures to supportsafe, efficient, cost-effective operation of the Nuclear GeneratingStation Units. Responsible for reviewing design and license changes forprocedure impact, performing 10CFR50.59 applicability reviews andStation Qualified Reviewer (SQR) reviews, and supporting outagesand various special projects. Review system documentation including P&ID and designdescriptions Provide operability review for systems specifically duringoff-normal conditions Assist in developing refueling sequences and ensure systems canaccommodate shutdown and refueling operations Directing operating shift personnel in the performance of plantduties including standing watch on rotating 12-hour shifts andcoordinating and directing the operation of the nuclear powerplant’s systems. Shift work, continuous training with periodicexaminations, respirator qualification, and maintainingqualification as a member of the plant Fire Brigade are allrequirements of this position.•
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or equivalent Successfully passing the Plant Operator Selection System (POSS)and Basic Math and Science Test (BMST) pre-employment tests Must successfully complete a FLS Leadership Assessment Meet or exceed one of the following: o 1 year Reactor Operatorlicense at a comparable facility or 1.5 years at a noncomparablefacility. Comparable is PWR to PWR or BWR to BWR and non-comparableis PWR to BWR or BWR to PWR. o 1.5 years or more in a positionequivalent to Reactor Operator (or Supervisor) at military reactor(i.e., Power Plant Watch Engineer, Engineering Watch Supervisor,Reactor Operator, Engineering Officer of the Watch, PropulsionPlant Watch Supervisor). Must have 1.5 years after qualification. oBachelor’s degree (BS) or equivalent in engineering, engineeringtechnology or physical sciences, or professional engineer license,and more than 1.5 years as a qualified non-licensed operator or asupervisor or manager in work control, operations, engineering,outage management, maintenance, radiation protection, chemistry, oraccredited training at a comparable (BWR or PWR) facility.
Managerial, staff engineer, or supervisor experience atnon-comparable plant may be credited on a 1.5:1.0 basis (i.e., over2.25 years required for non-comparable facility), and 3 yearsrequired for a nontraditional degree.
