Job Description

Press Brake Operator-2nd Shift (3:30p-2:00a) Cardinal Metalworks 1090 E Wilmington Street Ext, Burgaw, NC 28425 We are currently seeking a press brake operator that will be responsible for fabricating and manufacturing parts for various customers using CNC machinery that makes precision bends, punches or cuts into the material.

Role and Responsibilities:
  • Performs daily preventative maintenance on machine according to schedule provided by the production manager.
  • Selects and mounts bending tools including upper and lower punches and dies to machine.
  • Downloads CNC Program to machine control and sets back stops.
  • Loads material into machine and actuates stroke to make bend(s).
  • Runs first piece sample and inspects using template or calipers.
  • Monitors production operation of machine and checks parts for conformance to drawing according to schedule provided by Quality Manager.
  • Unloads bent parts from machine, identify and move to designated area.
  • Completes documentation required on Work Order.

Qualifications and Requirements:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures. Procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and brief memos. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers. Proficient in numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs and calculate bend reductions. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Must have proficient Computer Skills. To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of basic computer skills including bar code scanning. Basic Shop Math including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of whole numbers, decimals and fractions are required in both standard and metric formats. The ability to read and understand customer prints and specifications and use of precision measuring equipment including digital, dial and vernier calipers and height gages is required. Knowledge of statistics and statistical process control required. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
