Job Description The Finish Foreman is responsible for ensuring the timely planification and execution all activities associated with the painting/finish operations of sets and scenery elements. The Finish Foreman coordinates and executes the preparation, sanding and finishing of all structural elements and components of scenery, sets or any other project requiring their trade. The Finishing Foreman will be required to execute various tasks covering multiple trades to complete the assigned project. The Finishing Foreman is responsible for the maintenance on the right skillset within the Finishing shop and proposes as needed trainings to implement new technics and products.
Job Duties:
Responsible for ensuring the delivery, by the Finishing shop, of Finished elements meeting requirements and clients’ quality expectations. Coordinates and provides guidance to Finishers to execute the most effective method of Finishing. Collaborates with the Labor Foreman to ensure all tools including the dust collection system are properly maintained and regularly assessed. Utilizes hand tools or sprayer to apply textured paint and wall texture Responsible for smoothing surfaces and removing old paint from surfaces as needed Fills nail holes, cracks, and joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or other filler Spreads drop cloths over floors and room furnishings, and covers surfaces such as baseboards, door frames, and windows with masking tape and paper to protect surfaces during painting Ensures the dust collection system is on at all times and Finishing room doors are closed while doing dust generating activities Follow daily process for dust collection machine maintenance & cleaning Prepares sets and scenery elements as instructed by the Carpentry Supervisor. Applies various types of finishes such as plaster, stucco, faux finishes, scenic finishes. Applies various types of overlays such as surface distressing, sanding, aging and more. Notifies the Carpentry Supervisor, or any other recognized supervisor, if there is a lack of materials and/or if there are issues with the set/scenery elements. Responsible for maintaining and ensuring a safe, clean and organized work area. Provides support as needed to the fabrication shop, set, stage, and/or production location. Utilizes hand & power tools as needed to help support the erection of forms, framework, scaffolds, to make bolt holes in timber and/or concrete, and to assemble and fasten material together. Operates aerial platforms & material handling equipment as required and permitted subject to certifications and qualifications. Erects scaffolding or sets up ladders to perform tasks above ground level. Ensures that all work is done under the technical guidelines and operations procedures of Telemundo and adheres to
EHS/OSHA
regulations and procedures. Follows policies, applicable laws, and regulations to protect his/her own health and safety as well as that of other workers, the public, and the environment Presents proactively ideas that support EHS goals and policies to your business or EHS leaders. Raises concerns about possible violations of EHS policies to manager, business and EHS Leaders. Works under the supervision of the Carpentry Supervisor and is responsible for completing any other tasks as assigned by his manager, the Sr. Manager of Scenic Fabrication Operations.
Qualifications Basic Requirements:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction, scenic finishing or related field. Able to read and effectively utilize measuring instruments, such as tape measures and rulers. Exhibits ability to use hand tools, power tools and equipment. Exhibits an understanding of creating and assembling sets and other requests as instructed. Ability to lift over 50 lbs. of item(s) used in the creation of sets. Must be able to perform physical activities required of this position which includes, but is not limited to, climbing, lifting, balancing stooping, and handling of materials. Fluent in English and Spanish (both written & verbal). Must be able to perform job at various locations interior and outside work environment with varying weather conditions.
Desired Characteristics:
Previous experience in finishing and construction trades in the entertainment industry preferred. Prior educational experience within Arts preferred. Strong organizational skills. Excellent communication, leadership, interpersonal and organizational skills. Strong attention to detail. Ability to work collaboratively and independently. Able to pivot between tasks and work calmly in fast-paced environment. Efficient and flexible approach to meeting deadline. Solid verbal communicator with strong writing skills in English and Spanish highly preferred. Able to read, understand, follow, and enforce business procedure. Organized complex problem-solver and able to balance priorities, with great attention to detail. Process oriented, good at identifying and implementing best practices. Change agent; creative and adaptable when facing challenges
