COLOR PRESS OPERATOR – SHEETFED JOB SUMMARY
The Color Press Operator is responsible for operating 40″ multicolor sheetfed presses to produce high-quality printed materials in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment. Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and a commitment to safety and quality standards.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Set up (make-ready) and run print jobs according to quality expectations and job ticket specifications.
Maintain average make-ready times under 25 minutes.
Ensure consistent product quality while minimizing rework.
Achieve average production run speeds at 90% of the press’s maximum rated speed.
Understand and follow ISO procedures and meet supporting quality objectives.
KEY COMPETENCIES
Ability to read and interpret job tickets accurately.
Willingness and ability to learn and implement new technologies.
Strong organizational skills; ability to maintain a clean and orderly workspace.
Capable of making timely, quality-focused decisions, escalating to management when needed.
Able to work effectively in a team environment, including providing direction, training, and motivation to Press Helpers.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Must be able to lift 10-25 lbs regularly.
Requires standing for extended periods (up to 4 hours at a time) with frequent bending and twisting.
Good vision is essential for monitoring print quality and equipment.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum of five years experience operating multicolor sheetfed offset presses, with and without coating.
UV printing experience is required.
Perfecting (two-sided printing) experience is preferred.
