We are currently seeking a Milling Operator for a client specializing in high-quality components for the automotive and industrial sectors. This is a Direct Hire role based in Arden, NC that requires onsite presence. PURPOSE:
The Milling Operator is responsible to sets up and operates milling machines to cut, shape, and finish metal or other materials according to precise specifications. Milling is a type of machining process that uses rotary cutters to remove material from a workpiece.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Set up and operate manual or CNC (Computer Numerical Control) milling machines. Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, or job orders. Select appropriate tools, machine speeds, and feed rates for the material and part design. Monitor the machining process and make adjustments as needed to maintain accuracy. Inspect finished parts for quality using measurement tools like calipers and micrometers. Perform basic maintenance on machines and ensure a clean and safe work area.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School or GED Preferred
REQUIRED SKILLS
Ability to read & understand blueprints and technical documents commensurate with machine operation. A genuine belief in continuous improvement and disciplined processes and a willingness to analyze, Confidence to approach supervisor with suggestions to changes to processes, if needed, to create a more efficient environment and culture. Organizational and time management skills. Self-starter with ability to multi-task and prioritize work day/projects independently Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to use various inspection gages. Basic computer knowledge.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work is normally performed in an office, laboratory, manufacturing floor, or machine shop setting where physical work includes, but is not limited to, sitting, standing, reaching, kneeling, bending, and lifting up to 75 lbs. Must be able to understand and comply with all relevant safety practices.
