The Digital Finishing Machine Operator is responsible for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting digital finishing equipment in a label printing plant. This role ensures that printed labels meet customer specifications by cutting, laminating, inspecting, hot stamping, embossing and finishing them to the highest quality standards. The operator collaborates with the production team to meet deadlines and optimize equipment performance.

Key Responsibilities:

Machine Operation

  • Operate digital finishing machines, such as digital die-cutters, laminators, rewinders, and inspection systems, according to job specifications and safety protocols.
  • Set up and calibrate machines for each job, ensuring accurate alignment, cut settings, and finishing details.
  • Load materials (rolls, laminates, adhesives, etc.) and monitor the process to ensure uninterrupted operation. Quality Control
  • Inspect finished labels for accuracy in color, size, cutting, and overall quality, ensuring compliance with customer specifications.
  • Identify and correct defects, such as misalignments or inconsistencies in printing or cutting.
  • Conduct final inspections before packing and shipping. Maintenance and Troubleshooting
  • Perform routine cleaning and preventive maintenance of finishing machines to ensure optimal performance.
  • Diagnose and resolve equipment malfunctions, escalating complex issues to the maintenance team as needed.
  • Keep detailed records of maintenance activities and machine performance. Workflow Coordination
  • Collaborate with the printing and production teams to prioritize and complete jobs according to deadlines.
  • Update supervisors on job progress, delays, or issues affecting production schedules.
  • Follow and enforce safety protocols to maintain a clean and hazard-free workspace. Documentation
  • Maintain accurate records of job settings, materials used, and production output.
  • Complete production logs and report discrepancies or shortages.
Qualifications:

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical training in printing or finishing is a plus.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a printing or manufacturing environment, preferably in digital label finishing. Skills and Abilities
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with digital finishing equipment.
  • Attention to detail and ability to detect defects or inconsistencies.
  • Basic computer skills to input settings and navigate job instructions.
  • Ability to read and interpret work orders, production layouts, and technical manuals.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under tight deadlines. Physical Requirements
