SUMMARY
Proficient in the operation of a narrow flexo press up to 10 colors as well as general knowledge of digital web printing. The Lead Flexo Press operator is responsible for running a press as well helping other operators troubleshoot issues so they can successfully meet production and quality standards. Responsible for the overall quality of the final printed product produced on the shift, as well as the overall condition of the equipment and safety.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for job setup, as follows:
Review job tickets for information on the upcoming job.
Ensure all necessary materials and information is on hand prior to the start of the make-ready, such as, plates, paper, dies, color sample, ink, etc.
Change plate cylinders and dies
Hang plates
Setup all finishing aspects of the press
Setup, operate and adjust press for optimal performance.
Responsible for the production of job, as follows:
Maintain good color balance. Mix ink, as needed.
Inspect and ensure quality of print and die-cut including:
Color
Register
Die strike (die-cut)
Free of imperfections, such as hickeys, broken type, etc.
Ensure the samples are of the best quality possible
Runability on clients application equipment (good die-cut)
Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems as they arise
Help other operators achieve production and quality goals.
Ensure employees are working safely and maintaining an environment free of hazards.
Maintain an awareness of schedule, achieving the best possible production speeds
Record production of rolls and accurately complete Label Traxx production reports
Wash up press at end of job
Communicate press maintenance, supply and safety issues to management.
Complete end-of-shift/job reports, as required.
Perform maintenance as needed. Perform scheduled preventative maintenance, as required.
Comply with company rules, regulations and standard operating procedures.
Maintain confidentiality of company-sensitive data.
Implement a commitment to quality philosophy and recommend methods and procedures to reduce cost and/or improve quality and operating efficiency of the department.
Keep manager/supervisor informed of activities and situations that will impact the achievement of corporate or department goals and objectives.
Perform other related duties, as required, to achieve the goals and objectives of the department and company.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Trade school, high school or GED preferred plus 2-3 years of printing experience on narrow webs or equivalent.
