Position Summary:
The Assembly Technician is responsible forensuring the correct operation of automatic and semi-automaticassembly production equipment in accordance with governingdocumentation. Initiate action to prevent nonconformances relatedto the product and equipment. Identify and record problems relatingto the product, process and/or quality system. Initiaterecommendations, provide solutions, and verify the effectivity ofcontinuous operational improvements. The Technician will applyautomation skills along with related knowledge in electronics,mechanics, pneumatics and hydraulics to troubleshoot, repair,maintain and modify automated machinery. Perform machine setup,equipment/product change overs, troubleshoot equipment performanceproblems and assist team with machine adjustments.
Essential Duties& Responsibilities:
Perform machine and systems troubleshooting andrepair; assist with the specification, installation andmodification of integrated systems. Perform diagnostic checks onautomated equipment; isolate problems including, sensors,controllers, encoders, servomotors, and/or servo valves. Makerepairs to production equipment utilizing the following skill sets:
Controls, drawings, electrical, general mechanics, hand tools,hydraulics, machine shop, piping systems, pneumatics, and welding.
Complete shift start up paperwork such as process parameter,traceability, and start-up checklist. Conduct preventivemaintenance tasks•includes all Level I required tasks as per MP.Understand machine MO, PC, WP, STM and Interim Specifications.
Perform changeovers•line clearance of components and toolingchangeouts. Fill component hoppers and complete necessarytraceability paperwork. Pull inspection test samples and stage forQC Operator. Engage in machine troubleshooting on all assignedstations•bevel mold, pin & heater block changeout and bevel trimadjustments. Update hourly production boards with production andefficiency numbers for all Mods; note issues that prevented goalattainment (downtime, waste, quality, etc.) Process warehouseordering of components and pull tooling for changeovers. Submitmachine repair tags to identify issues requiring support services.
Perform all functions of a Team Operator when required. Assist withtraining of new Technicians. Maintain 5S standards in assigned workareas. Perform other related duties as assigned or required.
Knowledge & Skills Proficiency in multiple skill clusters,including electronics, mechanical systems and manufacturingprocesses. Knowledge of tools and components used in themaintenance and repair of mechanical systems. Knowledge andexperience in troubleshooting simple to complex motor controlrelays, contactors, and jog circuits. Automated and semi-automatedmachinery and process knowledge. Sound judgment in the execution oftechnical/troubleshooting issues. Strong verbal and writtencommunication skills. Good interpersonal skills to facilitatecommunication at various levels and areas within the organization.
Understanding of computers and computerized controls. Ability tolearn new technologies; understand and perform continuousimprovement activities. Minimum Qualifications, Education &Experience Must be at least 18 years of age High School Diploma, orGED required. Technical school background desirable. Up to 3 yearsof manufacturing experience. Previous experience with automated andsemi-automated equipment preferred. Work Environment Work involvesuse of manufacturing equipment or close proximity to equipment. Maybe exposed to biohazards and/or chemicals. Work environment canrange from clean room and proper gowning requirements to aproduction area that is open, potentially noisy, and with movingequipment. Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs. and push/pull up to80 lbs. Recurring physical demands include standing, walking,stooping, crouching, climbing, bilateral motion involving hands,wrists, and upper body. Concentrated visual attention to performchecks on products and components. Typically requires travel lessthan 5% of the time.
