Summary The PCB Assembler is responsible for assembling and soldering electronic components onto printed circuit boards (PCBs) according to engineering specifications and production guidelines. This role supports the setup, operation, and basic maintenance of equipment within the Electronics Lab. The assembler uses hand tools, soldering equipment, and both manual and semi-automatic machines to build high-quality assemblies for product development and manufacturing. Duties and Responsibilities Assemble electronic components such as resistors, capacitors, ICs, and transformers onto PCBs using manual and automated tools.
Operate screen printers, placement machines, and reflow ovens; load feeders with components from tubes or reels.
Perform hand soldering and rework of both surface mount and through-hole components.
Read and interpret assembly drawings, visual aids, bills of materials (BOMs), and work instructions.
Identify and correct defects through visual inspections and measurement checks in accordance with inspection plans.
Use a variety of hand and pneumatic tools, including soldering irons, crimpers, wire strippers, cutters, heat guns, and insertion/extraction tools.
Recognize and report production issues, collaborating with the team to resolve them promptly.
Follow safety protocols and cleanliness standards in the lab environment. Qualifications Minimum of 2 years’ experience in PCB assembly, soldering, or electromechanical build work.
Proficient in identifying electronic components and interpreting resistor color codes and hardware specifications.
Ability to read and follow blueprints, schematics, and process documentation.
