Value Add Fabrication Technician Nonexempt Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented TIG Pipe Welder to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing precision welding of carbon steel, and other alloy pipes using Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (TIG) welding techniques. This role requires a strong understanding of welding codes and specifications, the ability to read blueprints and isometric drawings, and a commitment to safety and quality.

Reports To:
Weighted Essential Duties and Tasks:
  • Perform TIG welding on a variety of pipe materials including stainless steel, carbon steel, and other alloys.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, and welding symbols to determine project requirements.
  • Prepare pipe and materials for welding by cutting, grinding, fitting, and tacking components.
  • Conduct visual inspections of welds to ensure they meet quality standards and project specifications
  • Perform welds in various positions (horizontal, vertical, overhead).
  • Use measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers to verify dimensions.
  • Operate related machinery such as grinders, bandsaw, and plasma cutters when required
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure timely project completion.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and weld certifications

TIG Welding Proficiency:

Skilled in TIG welding techniques and processes, with precision and consistency

Technical Interpretation:

Ability to read and interpret welding symbols, blueprints, and technical drawings

Welding Versatility:

Capable of welding in confined spaces and in multiple positions as required

Detail Orientation:

Excellent hand-eye coordination and attention to detail, ensuring high-quality welds

Fabrication & Pipe Fitting:

Working knowledge of pipe fitting and fabrication methods

Safety Awareness:

Strong commitment to workplace safety and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)

Requirements Education Requirement:

High school diploma or

GED Preferred Education or Certification:

Welding certification or completion of an apprenticeship program; AWS or ASME certifications highly desirable

Experience Requirement:

2-5 years of TIG welding experience, specifically with pipe welding

Preferred Experience:

Experience working under ASME B31.1 or B31.3 standards

Knowledge Requirement:

Familiarity with industry welding codes and standards; ability to pass visual and X-ray weld tests Work is performed in a manufacturing and fabrication setting, often involving exposure to varying temperatures, noise, and airborne particles Requires standing, bending, lifting, and working in confined or elevated spaces for extended periods Regular use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including welding masks, gloves, and protective clothing Environment emphasizes safety, precision, and teamwork in a fast-paced setting

Physical Demands:

Frequent bending, kneeling, crouching, and climbing Regularly required to lift, carry, and move materials or equipment up to 50 pounds Ability to perform repetitive motions with hands and arms, including welding movements Good manual dexterity and visual acuity for detailed weld work and inspections Must be able to wear required PPE, including respirators, welding hoods, gloves, and safety boots
