Technician Job Description The Technician role involves tuning microwave filters, subassemblies, and parts, as well as conducting various electronic and mechanical tests to ensure the units function according to specifications. This position also requires determining the cause of unit failure and collaborating with engineers and production personnel to resolve issues. Responsibilities Interpret test schedules, work orders, test manuals, performance specifications, wiring diagrams, and schematics to determine testing procedures and equipment to be used. Test the functional performance of preamps, microwave filters of all circuit typologies, subassemblies, and parts under specified environmental conditions such as temperature cycling. Connect and tune units using test equipment such as VOM, power supply, signal generator, frequency meter, network analyzer, spectrum analyzer, and environmental chamber. Interpret displays indicating electronic characteristics such as frequency, bandwidth, VSWR, time delay, phase track/match, distortion, voltage, inductance, and capacitance. Compare results with specifications and record test data or plot test results on graphs. Record defects and return units to the assembly department for repair. Devise test equipment setup to evaluate the performance and operation of nonstandard or customer returned units. Confer with engineers, technicians, production personnel, and others regarding testing procedures, test results, and problem resolutions. Assist in training other technicians. Periodically assist in other production areas at the discretion of the supervisor. Essential Skills Ability to solder and troubleshoot electrical components. Understanding of SMT and thru-hole technology. Proficiency with oscilloscopes and other testing equipment. Knowledge of IPC and J-STD standards. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and short correspondence. Basic mathematics skills, including computation of rate, ratio, and percent, as well as drawing and interpreting bar graphs. Additional Skills & Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent. 1-3 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of manufacturing, operating, inspection techniques, quality control plans, and work documentation. Work Environment This position is 100% on-site at a manufacturing facility located in Philadelphia, PA. The role follows a 4/10 work schedule, offering an opportunity to work on RF Circuitry going into larger systems for prominent companies in the industry.
