- Job Description
- Produces components by assembling parts and subassemblies.
Reads and deciphers schematics, blueprints, and assembly instructions. Uses hand tools to assemble and connect various components. Mounts assembled components onto chassis panels and installs finished assemblies in cases and cabinets. Conducts quality control checks and maintains a safe, clean work area. Prepares work by studying parts lists and gathering necessary materials.
- Responsibilities
- + Assemble parts and subassemblies using hand tools such as crimps, stakes, screws, bolts, rivets, welds, solders, cements, press fits, or similar tools.
+ Read and decipher schematics, blueprints, and assembly instructions. + Mount assembled components like transformers, resistors, transistors, capacitors, integrated circuits, and sockets on chassis panels. + Connect component wires to circuits and connect wires between individual component leads. + Install finished assemblies or subassemblies in cases and cabinets. + Tend to machines and adjust or trim materials from components. + Position or align components and parts using templates or measurements. + Conduct quality control checks to verify specifications by measuring completed components. + Clean and maintain work area and equipment, including tools. + Prepare work by studying parts lists and gathering parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials. + Resolve assembly problems by altering dimensions to meet specifications and notifying supervisors for additional resources. + Keep equipment operational by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer’s instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, and calling for repairs. + Maintain inventory by checking stock to determine supply levels, placing and tracking orders, and verifying receipt of supplies. + Conserve resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results. + Document actions by completing production and quality forms.
