Responsible for the efficient maintenance of all plant machinery, equipment, facilities and programs. Support other departments in meeting the overall company objectives. This position will serve our Water Heater Division, located in Montgomery, AL.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage and direct the diverse activities of all maintenance, tooling and MRO departments across all shifts. Responsible for recommending and implementing effective maintenance on required equipment, systems and facilities to achieve maximum performance and efficiency. (Preventative & Predictive Maintenance Program) Responsible for reporting maintenance KPI’s and action plans to improve under-performing metrics. Responsible for developing and implementing strategic plans to maximize equipment availability. Provide technical support and troubleshooting skills on all plant equipment, systems and facilities. Provide practical maintenance and tooling solutions to address pressing needs to facilitate production requirements. Responsible for submitting department budgets and controlling overall maintenance costs to that budget. Participates and provides input into capital budget planning. Responsible for providing normal equipment replacement needs and prioritizing. Responsible for supplying equipment improvement needs to maximize equipment availability. Responsible for budgeting, planning and managing maintenance activities during annual plant shutdown. Responsible for maintaining a training and developing maintenance and tooling staff. Establish departmental procedures and policies for approval by higher management and direct the application of corporate policies and procedures to ensure efficient functioning of the maintenance, tooling and MRO departments. Through subordinates, control quantity and quality of work, departmental costs, schedules, safety, good housekeeping, wiring conditions, waste and salvage. Establish and maintain good employee-management relations through proper training and instruction of subordinates, adherence to safety regulations, communications and consistent administration of policies. Represent company to outside vendors or company representatives. Perform liaison role between other functions of the company as it effects manufacturing. The incumbent facilitates the exchange of information and resolves issues in product process capability, information systems and facility issues. Administer the Performance Appraisal Policy for all salaried employees. In coordination with Plant Engineering, plan the implementation of complex production processes. Monitor and control the installation process, establishes estimates of time, material and labor costs on projects submitted. Examples of complex projects are those involving machine tool installation, furnaces, conveyor systems, or plant rearrangements. Project management methods and reports are used to monitor the projects. Provide input on design of equipment and/or processes for optimal operation and maintenance. Be a resource to other plants and functions within the division. Plan to assure the availability of materials and tools to meet maintenance schedules.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field of study with minimum 7 years experience or Associate’s Degree in related field of study with minimum 15 years experience in a manufacturing environment. Understanding of engineering and manufacturing practices. Knowledge of manufacturing processes, i.e., fabrication, assembly, paint, etc. Strong abilities and working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, tooling, industrial electrical controls, power transmissions, press and feed line systems, tooling and mechanical systems. Strong communicative skills (speaking, writing & listening) with the ability to present information and respond to questions from groups, directors or top management. Independent thought, good judgment, problem solving skills and ability to prioritize multiple projects A team player with solid interpersonal skills. Self-motivated with little or no supervision. Experience in directly supervising employees, monitoring and recording performance. Experience in leading a maintenance department in a dynamic environment that has shifting priorities based on business needs. Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to make recommendations and/or solve problems. Leads a team that supports a 24-hour per day operation.
HOW TO STAND OUT
