Full Job Description Job Summary :

Performs management duties including hiring, firing, discipline, supervisory, and organizational tasks involved in the operation of the plant. Their area of responsibility includes all production areas: soiled sort, wash floor, ironing, dry fold. Works closely and in conjunction with the Maintenance Manager and Distribution manager to insure a continuous and seamless flow of goods to and from the Customers.

Job Duties :

Hires, fires, interviews, counsels and disciplines employees under their area of responsibility. Manages, directs and supervises the work of all employees under their area of responsibility. Plans, organizes and directs personnel functions such as orientation, performance evaluations and in-service training where appropriate. Coordinates with supervisors and lead hands to ensure proper workflow through all departments and reallocates staffing duties as necessary to ensure all loads are completed and delivered in a timely fashion. Co-ordinates with Distribution Manager to ensure proper workflow from production to Cart Makeup, Shipping and Distribution. In the absence of the Distribution Manager, advises the Customer Service Manager of deliveries that may be late. Co-ordinates; projects, PMs, down time and new equipment selections with Engineering manager. Identifies the most critical equipment repairs during down time and identifies work schedules to co-ordinate boiler and air compressor start up as well as shift engineers to keep all processing machinery fully functional. Ensures an adequate number of staff is scheduled to perform the required work in a safe and productive manner ensuring production standards are met. Calls in replacements when required. Prepares shift schedules, vacation schedules, etc. for all employees under their area of responsibility. Ensures a high level of quality is maintained through each of the areas of responsibility. Assists in quality control by performing spot checks of processed linen prior to shipping. Coordinates with Supervisors on the on-going training of quality control and the need for the removal of linens that are stained, torn or worn during the finishing process. Ensures personnel work to a high standard of safety and equipment is maintained within safety standards. Maintains a clean, safe and orderly work area. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to manage and supervise effectively. Ability to plan and organize work. Ability to deal with others effectively. Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.

Education/Skills:

Minimum GED, bachelor’s degree preferred. Two years previous experience in a high paced production facility. Fluent in English, additional language Creole or Spanish an asset. Must be competent with computer programs, Microsoft Office and Linen Master. Must be detail orientated and be a team player.
