We are seeking an experienced and strategic Quality Director to lead and revitalize the Quality Management System (QMS) in our coatings and underlayments manufacturing business. This is a critical leadership role responsible for ensuring product quality, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement across the business. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in coatings or chemical manufacturing, with a proven track record of QMS implementation or overhaul. Initial focus will be in the Tampa Sun coatings facility with leveraging across the business. Travel up to 75% as leveraging takes place across the North American sites. Tampa, FL Responsibilities:
Lead and Overhaul the
QMS:
Evaluate the current Quality Management System and spearhead the design and implementation of a modernized, ISO-compliant (or relevant standard) QMS tailored to our operations.
Quality Strategy Development:
Define and drive a comprehensive quality strategy aligned with operational and customer requirements.
Regulatory and Compliance Management:
Ensure all products meet regulatory requirements, internal standards, and customer specifications.
Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action:
Oversee investigation and resolution of quality issues using structured problem-solving tools (e.g., 8D, DMAIC, FMEA).
Audits and Certifications:
Plan and lead internal and external audits; maintain certifications such as ISO 9001 or others relevant to our manufacturing operations.
Cross-Functional Leadership:
Collaborate with R D, Operations, Engineering, and Customer Care to integrate quality standards throughout the product lifecycle.
Metrics and Reporting:
Develop and report on KPIs related to product quality, defect rates, customer complaints, and audit findings.
Training and Development:
Build a quality-focused culture through training programs, leadership engagement, and team development. Establish QC protocols first in Tampa Sun and then to the other plants to support in-process and finished goods spec testing Identify and train QC resources in each plant As requested, provide input to plant sites toward manufacturing efficiency improvements Direct and dotted-line personnel influence and management skills Job qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field (Master’s degree preferred). Minimum 10 years of experience in quality roles within manufacturing, preferably in the coatings, chemicals, or related industries. Experience leading QMS development or transformation projects; ISO 9001 or

implementation experience necessary. Strong understanding of quality tools and methodologies (e.g., SPC, Six Sigma, Lean, CAPA, FMEA). Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Proficient in quality systems software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred certifications:
Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE) – ASQ preferred. Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification.
