Job Description
Plant Operations directs, leads, and controls the activities of a SPI-Florida high volume, pharmaceutical drug manufacturing plant. Sets manufacturing and operations strategic direction and motivates staff and organization to meet safety, quality, cost, and delivery requirements while fostering an environment of continuous improvement. The Senior Director will inspire and motivate team to ensure a high level of employee engagement and create a positive and a high performing culture that consistently exceeds performance metrics and key results. Duties and Responsibilities Hands-on leadership of end-to-end Manufacturing Operations while consistently meeting and exceeding quality, delivery, cost, and safety standards. Deliver sustainable year-over-year decreases in operational cost and increase in overall efficiency of infrastructure manufacturing sites and productivity. Responsible for leading all operations and the actions required to assure production, shipping schedules and planned sales are achieved within the operational expense and capital budgets. Plans and coordinates the transfer of new products, technologies, equipment and processes in conjunction with US Sales and Marketing needs and supports group strategic plans. Coordinates with appropriate group plans for future strategic plans implementation, including orderly phase-in of new products. Develops and maintains a comprehensive cGMP facility master plan to optimize resources. Leads implementation of Lean initiatives. Partner with senior-level leaders to assess current processes, metrics, and customer requirements to identify process improvement opportunities. Lead the operations team to deliver high priority projects per associated timelines, quality requirements and budget. Lead New Product, Process and Technology implementation initiatives while tightly managing project spend on capital and expense budgets. Work closely with Manufacturing, Science and Technology (MS&T), Formulations, and Research and Development, and other functional stakeholders as necessary to drive successful project implementation. Actively engage with Manufacturing Operations to evaluate existing process layouts in terms of new process integration, ensuring best utilization of floor space, minimized handling and optimum process flow.
Education / Work
Experience Bachelor’s Degree Advanced Degree preferred. At least 15 years of manufacturing experience with high volume production operations in GMP manufacturing environment. Leadership experience in generic drug manufacturing and soft gelatin capsule manufacturing experience is a must, and experience with hormone product manufacturing is a plus. Strong understanding of operational discipline and cGMPs. Experience with new facility start-ups and process technology transfers. Experience with both clinical and commercial manufacturing. Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities. Travel – 20% for training purposes might be require.
