CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CLASS
Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Production Manager is responsible for overall performance and effectiveness of production operations at the site. The Production Manager leads the team to meet business goals and objectives, while ensuring all rules, regulations, procedures, and policies are adhered to safely. This role is also responsible for leading Continuous Improvement driving Lean culture for the site.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
(other duties may be expected or assigned) Manage Site Production Operations Drive the production execution, capacity, and staff across all shifts in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) Plan, assign, and direct work for the team to achieve targets and goals Lead supervisory team and staff planning to effectively meet goals Influence and work with peers and support groups to solve problems as they arise Ensure Safety Ensure all operations are performed safely and engage team to drive safety improvements. Work with the safety coordinator to maintain the safety calendar and ensure appropriate trainings held. Set the Direction Assist in establishing, monitoring, and executing key performance indicators that drive daily production activity. These indicators should incorporate all relevant factors including product conformity, process performance, customer satisfaction, and employee well-being/engagement. Drives best training approach for the site, focusing on rapid and effective training practices. Create & Maintain a Team Environment Appraise performance, reward & discipline employees, address complaints & resolve issues as they arise. Develop future leaders in area of direct responsibility by providing broad feedback with increasing complexity and autonomy for key staff. Identify talent needs; interview, hire, and onboard employees Drive Improvement Identify and execute on Continuous Improvement (CI) & Lean Manufacturing initiatives for the site. Create opportunities for constructive engagement from all members of the team.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or operational management is preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered. 5+ years’ production management experience, preferably in an FDA regulated and/or ISO certified environment Experience and thorough knowledge of implementing Lean/5S practices Knowledge, Abilities and Skills Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Power Point, Word and Outlook) Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices Knowledge of ISO procedures Ability to direct, motivate and manage a cross functional staff Ability to communicate effectively with employees and all levels of management Excellent leadership, analytical and interpersonal skills
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The position requires the ability to sit, stand, stoop, bend, and walk frequently during the shift. The position may require working extended hours or on weekends as needed. Incumbent may need to lift up to 50 lbs. on occasion. Working Conditions Office environment and frequent exposure to manufacturing plant environment, with some abnormal variations in temperature, unavoidable fumes, noise, dust and atmospheric conditions.
