Functions as Manager, Team – Manufacturing for a combination of converting lines. The individual will have broad operations responsibilities for one or more high-capacity and technically complex converting processes used for producing a range of finished consumer goods. Responsible for management of all assigned assets and leads a multi-functional work team and support resources that have the responsibility to maintain plant operations on a rotating shift and to meet facility objectives. The incumbent has the additional responsibility for development and improvement of line productivity and direct involvement in the support of improved products. Develops and leads teams with both direct and indirect reports. Coordinates operational activities and assists in development of and adherence to prescribed standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage team to ensure key objectives are obtained in all business areas including safety, housekeeping, human resource development, quality, customer service, asset management, cost, and internal controls. Develop a Safety culture and lead changes to improve safety performance. Develop, implement, execute, and ensure sustainability of standard work. Define, track, and communicate performance to KPI’s/targets. Implements corrective action plans when not meeting standards. Maintaining a Visual Management System for each line Interface with inter-departmental personnel to build positive, constructive relationships while meeting internal and external customer expectations. Collaborate with and align with Business Support. Prioritize and optimize daily operations according to the business demand, in consultation with the Supply Chain , Reliability, and Quality departments. Define, justify, manage, and implement projects within the scope of the role that help deliver better than current performance. Provide leadership for process specific problem-solving, to evaluate and improve operational processes and systems. Operationally responsible for the shift team’s work. Manage employees, coordinate work tasks and responsibilities within the department. Responsible for the Employee lifecycle within department: Attraction, recruitment, onboarding, development, retention, and separation. Ensure the right competence, evaluate performance, establish, and follow up on development plans. Leadership that promotes overall team wellbeing. Lead and inspire in a way that, promotes participation, and creates opportunities for employees to work in a healthy work environment. Be a role model based on the company’s values and policies. Strategic workforce planning in consultation with Manufacturing Leaders and support departments as needed. Conduct performance appraisals and establish development plans for all direct reporting on assigned shift. Assist in recruiting high quality personnel to ensure effective and continuous operations within the framework of plant objectives and high-performance team philosophies. Contribute to an environment in which all team members are respected regardless of their individual differences and are motivated to improve both their individual and team contributions to achieve desired business results.
Position Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in business or technical field or combination of education and experience. Minimum of 7 years in an operational leadership capacity in a manufacturing environment. Have broad technical knowledge and significant experience in operations, maintenance and/or engineering, and a working knowledge of multifunctional issues. Experience driving improvements through engaged development of operational standards, processes and systems Strong interpersonal and team building skills Preferred Qualifications Specific knowledge of absorbent hygiene business Prior experience in high performance work systems and operational excellence environments Six Sigma Certification Lean Manufacturing Certification
