Job Description

Plant Manager 3.6 3.6 out of 5 stars Liberty, NC 27298 SUMMARY This position serves as the Plant Manager for Green Metals Battery Innovations, a joint venture with Toyota Tsusho America. The Plant Manager will play a significant role in establishing operational processes, building the team, and setting the culture of the plant. Green Metals Battery Innovations is a battery recycling company established in 2024, primarily focused on recycling electric vehicle (EV) batteries and creating a circular solution for end-of-life batteries by producing high-quality and sustainable secondary raw materials.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Full Involvement in

Plant Start-Up Activities:

Develop operational standards, manuals, and production schedules in collaboration with the engineering team and business stakeholders. Train plant staff, including production workers and supervisors, in partnership with the business team. Establish quality control standards to ensure products meet specifications. Collaborate with EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety) specialists to establish safety and environmental standards. Ensure entire operation is in compliance with all regulatory requirements (Local, State, Federal). Undertake operational training at an existing battery recycling plant in Japan. Participate in equipment operation and maintenance training courses provided by the engineering company.

Manage Plant Operations:
Staff Management:

Recruit, train, and supervise plant personnel, including production workers, operational manager, supervisors, and support staff. Foster a positive work environment and promote teamwork.

Production Planning:

Implement production schedules to meet customer demands while optimizing resource utilization.

Quality Control:

Maintain quality control standards to ensure products meet specifications and regulatory requirements.

Budget Management:

Prepare and manage the plant budget, monitor expenses, and implement cost-saving measures without compromising quality.

Process Improvement:

Identify areas for process improvement and implement best practices to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and increase productivity.

Safety Compliance:

Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, conduct safety training, and promote a culture of safety within the plant.

Inventory Management:

Oversee inventory levels of raw materials and finished products, ensuring optimal stock levels are maintained.

Equipment Maintenance:

Establish a Preventative Maintenance Program and Coordinate maintenance and repairs of machinery and equipment to minimize downtime and ensure operational efficiency.

Reporting and Analysis:

Prepare reports on production metrics, efficiency, and other key performance indicators for upper management.

Collaboration:

Work closely with other departments, such as supply chain, quality assurance, and sales, to align production with company goals.

Strategic Planning:

Contribute to the development of long-term strategies for the plant, including capacity planning, technology upgrades, expansion opportunities, and Kaizen mind of “continuous improvement”

Customer Interaction:

Occasionally engage with customers to understand their needs and ensure production aligns with customer expectations

Sustainability Initiatives:

Implement and promote sustainable practices within the plant to reduce environmental impact

Logical Thinking and Problem-Solving Skills:

Possess strong logical thinking and problem-solving abilities to analyze complex situations, identify root causes of issues, and develop effective solutions to enhance operational efficiency EDUCATION and/or

EXPERIENCE A

bachelor’s degree in engineering, chemistry, electrical, or a related field is preferred. A minimum of (10) years of experience is preferred in roles that demonstrate expertise in either Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical, or battery related manufacturing or/and recycling disciplines is required.

Full knowledge and operations of office suite

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Must have the ability to write legibly, read and comprehend complex instructions, regulations, correspondence, and memos. Must have the ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and large group situations to customers, clients, within the organization, and the public.

Posses strong logical thinking abilities and problem-solving skills, enabling to analyze complex situations, identify root causes of issue, and develop effective solutions to enhance operational efficiency.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those encountered while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee works in an open office environment as well as on the operations floor near moving mechanical parts, in outside weather conditions, and is may be exposed to wet, humid, extreme cold, and extreme heat conditions. Exposure risk may exist but proper PPE and separation from such areas will be strictly implemented. The employee will be required to wear safety shoes, safety glasses, and protective clothing, gloves, hard hats, and respirators as specified in the various processes and/or instructions.
