Job Description

Plant Manager 2.5 2.5 out of 5 stars Portland, TN We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Plant Manager to lead and oversee operations at our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of plant operations, ensuring production efficiency, quality control, and the achievement of company goals. This is a search for a key leadership position within our company.

Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Management:

Provide strategic direction and leadership to plant staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence. Oversee the daily operations of the manufacturing plant, ensuring that production schedules, quality standards, and cost targets are met. Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to enhance productivity and efficiency. Share a trusting relationship with the workgroup and recruit, manage, and develop plant staff. Influence and learn from below.

Production and Quality Control:

Plan, organize, direct, and run optimum day-to-day operations to exceed customer expectations. Increase production, asset capacity, and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining current quality standards. Be responsible for production output, product quality, and on-time shipping. Allocate resources effectively and fully utilize assets to produce optimal results. Implement strategies in alignment with strategic initiatives, providing a clear sense of direction and focus. Monitor operations, key performance indicators (KPIs), and trigger corrective actions. Ensure adherence to quality standards and implement quality control processes to maintain product excellence. Collect and analyze data to identify areas of waste or overtime.

Financial Management:

Develop and manage the plant budget, ensuring cost control and financial performance. Analyze financial reports and data to make informed business decisions and drive profitability. Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or safety.

Safety and Compliance:

Promote a safe working environment by enforcing safety regulations and practices. Ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards, regulations, and company policies. Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments to mitigate potential hazards. Commit to plant safety procedures.

Human Resources and Development:

Lead, mentor, and develop plant staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment. Manage staffing levels, recruitment, training, and performance evaluations. Encourage employee engagement and retention through effective communication and recognition programs.

Continuous Improvement:

Implement Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency. Develop systems and processes that track and optimize productivity, standards, metrics, and performance targets to ensure effective return on assets. Drive innovation and process improvements to achieve operational excellence and competitive advantage. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline processes and enhance overall plant performance. Stay up-to-date with the latest production management best practices and concepts.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business Administration, or a related field. Minimum of 10 years of experience in manufacturing, with at least 5 years in a plant management role. Proven work experience as a plant manager. Proven managerial experience. Adequate knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation, and human resources). Familiarity with industry-standard equipment and technical expertise. Knowledgeable in safety, quality, productivity, demand creation, inventory, and stewardship processes. Excellent financial acumen and experience managing budgets and financial performance. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement. Computer literacy. Ability to create accountability and lead by example. Strong team-building, decision-making, and people management skills.
