YOUAs the Production Manager, youwill guide, direct, and coach production employees to safelymanufacture high-quality products at a sufficiently high volume tomeet production standards with minimal waste.
Provide work directionand leadership to production employees within the guidelines ofstandard work rules, union contract provisions, and employmentpolicies.
Oversee day-to-day operations of the production groupincluding making personnel changes and addressing performance,behavior, and policy compliance.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
(% of Time)Planand schedule production runs to meet customer demands. Achieveproduction goals at the required level of quality. Communicate withstaff to ensure a smooth flow of information and products toachieve production goals. Communicate with Plant Superintendentwhere necessary to modify and improve efficiency. Monitorproduction processes and proactively identify and address barriers.
Troubleshoot and problem-solve through root cause analysis.
Communicate with other departments and help drive better workingrelations. (30%)Lead, motivate, and direct employees usingeffective performance management techniques, including establishingexpectations and goals, providing recognition and feedback, andaddressing performance problems. Coach, encourage, and developemployees according to their unique interests and strengths.
Empower employees to take responsibility for their careers andperformance. Delegate responsibility and expect accountability andregular feedback.
Foster a spirit of teamwork and unity amongdepartment members and the organization. (30%)Help in developingcontinuous improvement culture. Manage and train employees on theLean program. Measure and report result to Leadership on a regularbasis. (20%)Consistently exemplify the highest safety standards andmonitor others to the same standards.
Coordinate with otherdepartments to meet objectives. Ensure that all Simpson policiesand procedures are adhered to by all teammates. Review and editemployee timecards. Approve and deny employee time off requests.
Work with the Human Resources department for staffing needs andconduct first face-to-face interviews. Develop or modify trainingprocedures and keep track of all training. (10%)Monitor, manage,and prioritize manufacturing and receiving activities to ensuregoals are attained and standards met.
Support Simpson’s Leadprogram.
Approve work orders, monitor backorders, and manage on-siteraw materials.
Annual participation in inventories. (10%)
DESIREDSKILLS AND
EXPERIENCEIf you can do everything listed above, you’vegot what it takes. Perhaps some of the following would be helpfultoo: One-year certificate from college or technical school; orrelated experience and/or training; an equivalent combination ofeducation and experience is required. A college degree or technical school certificate in business ispreferred. 5 years of related manufacturing experience and/or training ispreferred. 2 years of managing others are required. Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, qualitycontrol, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effectivemanufacturing and distribution of goods. The ability to give full attention to what other people aresaying, take time to understand the points being made, askquestions as appropriate, and not interrupt at inappropriatetimes. The ability to use logic and reasoning to identify thestrengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, orapproaches to problems. The ability to monitor/assess your own performance and othersto make improvements or take corrective action. The ability to read and understand information and ideaspresented in writing. The ability to effectively use Word, Excel, and Outlook tocarry out work. The ability to listen to and understand information and ideaspresented through spoken words and sentences. The ability to conduct tests and inspections of processes toevaluate quality or performance. Knowledge of elimination of waste, continuous improvement, S5,Kaizen, Quality Built In, JIT, Kanban, and levelizedproduction. Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus,statistics, and their applications.

While performing the duties of thisjob, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, see, talk,and hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. This roleoperates large equipment while standing for approximately 8-12hours, regularly twisting, and bending in a repetitive motion.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee mayfrequently lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objectsweighing up to 50 pounds, and heavier weights with properequipment.
