We are looking for an experienced and motivated Dayside News Production Supervisor to lead our broadcast news production team. This position plays a key role in overseeing the technical execution of daily newscasts across multiple time slots, ensuring seamless coordination between control room, studio, and news. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in live television news production, a proven ability to manage teams, and the organizational skills required to deliver multiple hours of live and recorded content every day.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise production staff including directors, technical directors, studio crew, and graphic operators. Oversee the technical execution of multiple daily newscasts, ensuring high production standards and broadcast quality. Coordinate closely with producers, assignment editors, and newsroom leadership to support editorial goals and show flow. Maintain daily schedules and manage staffing to meet coverage needs, including breaking news and special events. Troubleshoot technical and workflow issues in real time to avoid disruptions during live broadcasts. Ensure studio and control room equipment is operated properly and report any technical issues to engineering. Support training and development of production staff to improve skills and maintain consistency across shows. Maintain clear communication between news, engineering, and production teams to ensure a smooth broadcast process.
Qualifications:
3-5 years of experience in live television news production, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory or lead role. Strong understanding of newsroom workflows, live control room operations, and production technology. Experience directing or technical directing newscasts a plus. Proven ability to manage multiple newscasts and a rotating staff under tight deadlines. Exceptional organizational and leadership skills. Familiarity with newsroom systems (e.g., ENPS), switchers, audio consoles, and automation systems (ROSS, Wheatstone).
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods during control room operations and live newscasts. Manual dexterity to operate production equipment such as switchers, audio consoles, intercoms, and computer systems with precision. Visual acuity (with or without correction) to monitor broadcast signals, video feeds, rundown scripts, and control room displays. Auditory ability (with or without aids) to monitor multiple communication channels, including intercoms, program audio, and emergency alerts. Occasional lifting and moving of production-related materials or equipment weighing up to 25 pounds (e.g., camera accessories, lighting components, cables). Mobility within studio and control room environments, including the ability to respond quickly to technical needs or crew coordination. Ability to work under time-sensitive, high-pressure conditions, especially during live or breaking news coverage. Flexible availability, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays, in support of live broadcast schedules and special events.
