Job Description The Manufacturing Supervisor is dedicated to maintaining and improving the capability of the manufacturing facility to safely deliver the highest quality products at the lowest possible cost through the use of effective manufacturing methods. The Manufacturing Supervisor will direct staff, train and develop employees to meet the operating goals of safety, quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

Follow and ensure that all Key Operating Procedures are upheld, including but not limited to: Company and facility

Policies:

Safety

  • LTCT; use of proper PPE; adherence to all applicable safety rules
    Quality
  • PQCT, Injection molded and assembled product, and Inspection procedures
    SOPs
  • Methods for performing work
    SSOP/Good Housekeeping (keep machines and area sanitized and clean)
    Good Manufacturing Practices Accountable for scrap, efficiency, quality, and monitors performance and progress on the production floor and warehouse
    Responsible for all work activities in the all areas of operations being conducted in a safe and effective manner
    Execution of time management skills to coordinate multiple priorities and direct production staff and production management to discuss production, materials, machine problems, scheduled change over, staffing needs, etc.

Provides technical guidance and hands on assistance when essential to teach while developing and challenging employees to aspire to their full potential
Ensure maintenance and technical issues are being addressed to optimize performance by exercising judgement to identify root cause and place necessary corrective actions
Partner with Maintenance Department to organize repair and routine maintenance of production equipment
Planning to execute projects and production ensuring that equipment, materials, and manpower are available as required to meet expectations of both internal and external customers
Partner with Quality Department to guarantee that quality standards are upheld and that any suspect or defective product is reported to be appropriately destroyed or placed on hold for review and decision
Responsible for determining overtime needs by assessing orders and posting/updating the schedule when applicable
Partner with Scheduling and Materials departments to ensure production needs can be met with both manpower and materials
Partner with Continuous Improvement to drive continuous improvement efforts to engage all employees to make quality products and promote all Kaizen and initiatives to sustain improvements
Oversees the work of direct reports

  • scheduling work assignments, materials, performance, etc.

Assess project and resource requirements to accurately plan and execute daily production and projects.
Uphold required KPI metrics as required and partner with team to identify inefficiencies to restore metrics to good standing.
Analytical ability to understand production line efficiencies regarding labor, machinery, and production methods.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills required to effectively disseminate and present information and in both written and verbal forms to all levels of the organization.
Projects and responsibilities as assigned by Plant Management and Corporate to facilitate lean, effective production while upholding safety, quality, and company culture.
CAPA’S Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in related field required
Minimum of 5 years of equivalent experience in manufacturing leadership
Experience with equipment maintenance required Experience required: Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, 5S, and other continuous improvement experience and background with mechanical aptitude. Preferred 3-5 years to direct supervision experience.

Specific skills:

Ability to effectively manage, motivate, and lead team with clear communication and company vision.
Equipment and skills: Preferred experience in the plastics sector. Mechanical aptitude to successfully troubleshoot machine issues and teach production employees, and use problem solving and decision-making skills to run an effective production operation.
Computer experience and software: Microsoft Suite, Oracle, SAP Work Environment Manufacturing Plant. Climate Controlled.
