Full Job Description Now Hiring:

Grading Foreman! We’re looking for an experienced Grading Foreman to join our growing team in a brand-new, full-time position. If you’re a skilled leader with a knack for grading operations, we want to hear from you! As a Grading Foreman, you’ll be responsible for:

Supervising & Leading Crews:

Directly oversee and coordinate the daily activities of grading crews, including equipment operators, laborers, and subcontractors. This involves developing work schedules, assigning tasks based on project priorities and plans, monitoring attendance, and ensuring optimal crew organization and productivity.

Safety & Quality Assurance:

Implement and enforce strict safety protocols on the job site, ensuring all team members adhere to OSHA standards and site-specific safety rules. Conduct regular site inspections, identify and address potential hazards, and lead safety meetings. Ensure all grading work meets project specifications, plans, and quality standards, performing regular checks and inspections.

Project Execution & Management:

Interpret project plans, blueprints, and specifications to accurately execute all grading and excavation activities. This includes understanding cut and fill calculations, compaction requirements, drainage plans, and final grade elevations. Coordinate construction activities with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met on time and within budget.

Equipment Operation & Maintenance:

Oversee the proper use and maintenance of various heavy grading equipment, such as:

Motor Graders, Bulldozers/Dozers, Excavators, Loaders, Compaction Equipment (Rollers)

Reporting & Documentation:

Maintain accurate daily logs and reports, tracking work progress, equipment usage, material consumption, and personnel hours. Provide regular updates to project managers and superintendents, reporting on work progress, safety incidents, and any issues or deviations from plans.

Problem-Solving & Adaptability:

Proactively identify potential issues before they arise and implement effective solutions to keep the project moving forward smoothly. Address and resolve conflicts or disputes that may occur on-site among team members, owners, or other contractors.

Material Coordination:

Ensure timely delivery of materials (e.g., fill dirt, gravel, aggregate) and oversee their proper handling, storage, and utilization on-site.

Technical Knowledge:

In-depth knowledge of grading principles, earthwork, excavation techniques, and compaction. Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints , grading plans, and project specifications. Strong understanding of surveying principles and using instruments like laser levels and grade rods for accurate grade checking. Experience with GPS-enabled grading equipment is a significant plus. Familiarity with industry best practices and construction procedures .

Qualifications:

3+ years of proven experience as a Grading Foreman. A valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) . A Blue Card and Traffic Card are highly preferred. OSHA 10 or 30-hour certification is a strong asset. A strong understanding of grading techniques , equipment, and best practices. Strong leadership abilities to effectively direct, motivate, and train a diverse crew. Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) to interact clearly with crew members, project managers, engineers, and external vendors. Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks , priorities, and deadlines simultaneously. Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities, especially under pressure. Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, and climb frequently throughout the day. Capable of lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs regularly, and occasionally up to 90 lbs. Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions (heat, cold, dust, noise).
