We are seeking an experienced and motivated Foreman Fabricator with a strong background in miscellaneous and ornamental ironwork . The ideal candidate will be responsible for interpreting shop drawings, overseeing fabrication and field installation , and leading a team to ensure safe, high-quality, and timely completion of structural and architectural metalwork.
Key Responsibilities:
Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and technical plans for the fabrication and installation of custom ironwork (stairs, rails, gates, canopies, etc.). Lead and supervise a fabrication/installation crew in both shop and field environments. Plan and coordinate daily work activities , assigning tasks and ensuring adherence to safety protocols and production schedules. Lay out, measure, cut, fit, weld, and assemble ironwork components with accuracy and craftsmanship. Ensure all fabricated and installed items meet specifications, tolerances, and visual quality standards . Coordinate with project managers, general contractors, and other trades to resolve conflicts and maintain workflow. Maintain and enforce site safety , proper use of PPE, and compliance with OSHA regulations. Conduct material take-offs and report fabrication needs or field adjustments. Perform quality checks and assist with punch list resolution and final installation verification.
Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in metal fabrication and ornamental ironwork, with at least 2 years in a leadership/foreman role . Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction and fabrication drawings . Skilled in welding (MIG/TIG/Stick) , cutting, grinding, and finishing various metals (steel, aluminum, stainless, etc.). Strong working knowledge of construction methods, site coordination , and project sequencing. Ability to work from ladders, lifts, and scaffolding , including exterior and elevated installations. OSHA 10 or 30 certification (or willingness to obtain). Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. Strong communication, leadership, and team-building skills.
Preferred Attributes:
Welding Certifications (AWS) Issued by the American Welding Society (AWS) or through accredited testing centers. AWS Certified Welder Program (CWP) Validates proficiency in specific welding processes (e.g., MIG, TIG, Stick) and positions. Familiarity with lean shop practices and continuous improvement principles . Ability to troubleshoot fabrication or field installation issues independently. Knowledge of applicable building codes, tolerances, and ADA railing requirements .
Working Conditions:
Work performed in both fabrication shop and field settings , subject to varying weather and job site conditions. Must be able to lift 75 lbs, bend, stand, and climb regularly during work hours.
