Job Summary:

Coordinates and supervises activities of the Dehydration Department, including, but not limited to, production, sanitation, machine maintenance, personnel, procedures and documentation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Supervises and trains all personnel to assure timely customer receipt of product within the standards of budget, policies, procedures, work rules, quality, safety, sanitation and Federal and State Laws. Trains, supervises and evaluates the performance of department personnel; develops work performance standards; schedules and assigns work and develops priorities, provides technical expertise as needed or requested. Maintains communication with Department Manager regarding personnel, productivity, inventory, quality, etc, and all related paperwork, including completion of required reports. Assists in the development of departmental procedures and maintains appropriate control and quality assurance procedures; ensures compliance with current safety requirements. Assures inventories of products are maintained at levels directed by management. Maintains current knowledge of federal, state and local regulations. Attends seminars, lectures, meetings and professional conferences, required. Defines, measures, and improves department processes. Assures that machinery and equipment are properly maintained, including proper sanitation. Communicates departmental activities (scheduling, performance, safety and quality) to associates on a daily basis. Assures all associates adhere to all safety standards and company policies. Develops and maintains good interpersonal relationships between the Department and other departments. Develops a team environment in which members participate, cooperate with and support each other. Maintains a good working relationship with USDA. Other duties, as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in food science, agriculture, business, or related field preferred. We also are looking for candidates with a high school diploma or GED with 3-5 years of proven leadership or manufacturing experience. Ability to communicate with influence both written and verbally.   • Up to 12 hours per day, Walk
  • Up to 60 minutes per hour, Sit
  • Up to 15 minutes per hour, Lift/Carry up to 50 pounds, Bend/Squat/Twist Has previous supervisory experience.

Prefer food plant and sanitation experience. Prefer completion of post-secondary education or training or verifiable related job experience. Acquires and applies professional/technical knowledge, skills, experience, and judgment to accomplish results, serve customers better and contribute to the organization’s intellectual capital. Is effective at coaching others. Helps subordinates and other associates define and follow through with actions that support excellent performance and personal development.
