$43.6K – $54.8K a year 17 hours ago Qualifications OSHA 10 Mid-level OSHA 30 Driver’s License Supervising experience Sports Construction 1 year Communication skills Full Job Description Base Crew Foreman GeoSurfaces Southeast is seeking a Base Crew Foreman to oversee and direct all activities related to the preparation and installation of the base layer for athletic fields, turf systems, or similar surfaces. This includes managing crew members, ensuring safety and quality standards, operating equipment, and coordinating with project management to maintain schedules and budgets.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and lead a crew in the excavation, grading, compaction, and base installation process. Ensure proper layout and adherence to grade specifications per project plans. Operate heavy equipment such as skid steers, rollers, and graders as needed. Perform quality control checks to ensure base material meets required compaction and tolerances. Maintain daily reports including crew attendance, work progress, equipment usage, and material delivery. Communicate effectively with Project Managers, subcontractors, and inspectors. Enforce safety regulations and ensure job site cleanliness and compliance with OSHA standards. Train and mentor crew members, promoting a productive and respectful work environment. Identify and resolve potential issues proactively to avoid project delays.
Qualifications:
3+ years of experience in civil, sports field, or turf construction. 1+ year of supervisory or crew lead experience. Strong understanding of grading, drainage, and aggregate base construction. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, grade stakes, and laser levels. Effective communication skills with the ability to lead a team and coordinate with other departments. Experience operating heavy equipment. Valid driver’s license. Preferred Certifications (Preferred but not required) : OSHA 10 or 30 Certification Heavy Equipment Operator Certification Stormwater/Erosion Control Certification (SWPPP)
Physical & Travel Requirements:
Ability to lift over 50-75 lbs and perform physical labor for extended periods. Capable of working long hours outdoors, including in hot and humid weather conditions, as well as other seasonal elements. Must be willing to travel frequently for long periods of time and work extended hours as needed.
