Job Description
Production Manager/Supervisor 3.0 3.0 out of 5 stars Elizabeth City, NC 27909 Activities of the workshop trades instructor include training mentally and/or physically disabled clients in routine sub-assembly and production tasks in a production’s trades area, teaching classes on safety and job seeking and retention related topics, and overseeing production contract completion. He/she will train and supervise clients in routinized tasks such as sorting, cutting, packaging, sewing, or assembling parts depending on contracts available. Employee assigns and reassigns work based on clients’ abilities, training needs, and protection requirements. The employee must design projects and develop special tools or equipment modifications to adapt to the abilities and limitations of the clients. Position functions within the dual goals of safely meeting production and business management needs and teaching clients specific work skills and reinforcing work habits to give the client competitive employment potential. Most contract work is performed within the workshop, however, in certain training, work may be performed in a different physical location from the workshop. Work requires frequent contact with evaluation and placement staff in the appraisal of client performance and potential. Employee maintains inventory of material, trade equipment, client wage production records, and time study analyses. Work is performed under the general direction of the Executive Director and is reviewed through oral conferences, written reports, and evaluation of results in imparting job skills. Essential Duties
- reviews work methods and product or service requirements breaking down operations into teachable step-by-step process
- maintains standard of production to meet output requirements; monitors inventories to insure ongoing production
- develops tool modifications to simplify client usage; teaches clients safe operation of tools & equipment
- trains clients through frequent repetition and close observation, steps involved in various production processes; determines client progress and readiness for learning successive steps
- teaches clients through behavior modification techniques, work habits and work-related skills, such as using a time clock, punctuality, attendance, non-disruptive behavior, and productivity; uses goal plans established by evaluation staff as guides for individual skills needs; counsel’s clients
- completes reports to document client progress and activities; discusses observations with their staff
- establishes prevailing industrial pay rate for each job to calculate client pay (hourly and piece rate) in accordance with federal Wage and Hour regulations
- writes and updates contracts as needed including wage information and costing information
- works as a team member to define and meet the client’s needs and goals
- maintains compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and standards
Nonessential Duties:

Knowledge/Skills Requirements:
- general knowledge of the vocational requirements of a variety of occupations
- general knowledge of woodworking equipment and machinery with ability to safely teach and supervise operations
- ability to express findings and recommendations in staff conferences
- ability to assess client needs, develop assignments to meet needs and assess potential and abilities, and maintain reports documenting process and recommendations
- ability to work independently and effectively with minimal supervision
- CPR/First Aid certified/NVCI training/Forklift certification
- knowledge of behavior and characteristics of disabled persons
- knowledge of all policies
- ability to implement policies
- ability to plan and organize
- knowledge and understanding of CRP’s stated mission
Required Physical Activities:
- ability to balance, crouch, bend, stoop, crawl, walk, kneel, twist, stand & sit hear, near/far vision; tolerant of environmental conditions (wetness, dust, noise, hot/cold, etc.)
- ability to perform work duties 8 hrs.

Driving Requirements:

Experience and Training:
Graduation from high school. Experience in the trades area of instruction. Some experience in working with disabled preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
