Magnaghi Aerospace designs, develops, and produces complete landing systems on a variety of aeronautical programs and manufacturers, including Boeing, Airbus, Lockheed Martin, and Leonardo.
Blair-HSM Machine Works Inc., located in Leland, North Carolina, is a subsidiary of MAGROUP Magnaghi Aerospace. It manufactures structural landing gear components and airframe machined parts. The company produces hydraulic actuators, mechanical assemblies including a wide variety of kits, and complete landing gear assemblies in the aerospace market with two world-class manufacturing and integration facilities located on the East Coast of the United States with a workforce that consists of a strong procurement department, vast manufacturing experience and capabilities, a tried and proven sub-contractor base with a fully capable assembly department, and other infrastructure facilities.

Position
The Site Lead for our manufacturing operations in Leland, North Carolina will be responsible for overseeing all manufacturing activities ensuring all processes adhere to safety, quality, and efficiency standards. This role involves leading a small team of about 18 machine operators and managing day-to-day operations: maintaining compliance with industry regulations and best practices.

Leadership & Team Management:
  • Lead and manage a team of skilled machine operators involved in landing gear machinery.
  • Ensure team productivity and morale through effective coaching, performance evaluations, and training initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and quality within the team.
  • Develop and implement shift schedules and resource allocation plans to ensure operational efficiency.
Operations:
  • Oversee the manufacturing processes for landing gear systems.
  • Coordinate with engineering, quality control, and production teams to ensure timely and accurate completion of tasks.
  • Ensure all landing gear machinery meets industry standards, manufacturer specifications, and regulatory requirements.
Compliance & Quality Control:
  • Ensure adherence to relevant aviation industry standards and regulations (e.g., FAA or other applicable governing bodies).
  • Implement and enforce strict quality control measures to guarantee the integrity and safety of landing gear machinery.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for all activities, including inspection reports, maintenance logs, and compliance records.
Resource Management:
  • Oversee the procurement and inventory management of parts and components required for activities.
  • Manage budgetary constraints and optimize the use of resources without compromising quality or safety.
Continuous Improvement & Process Optimization:
  • Regularly review workflows, recommend changes, and introduce new technologies or methodologies that improve overall performance.
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the performance of activities and implement corrective actions when necessary.
Safety & Risk Management:
  • Ensure all operations are carried out in compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Conduct regular safety training and audits to minimize risks and prevent accidents.
  • Lead investigations into incidents or discrepancies and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, aerospace, mechanical, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
Experience in leading manufacturing operations (preferably 5+ years) in a similar environment, with the ability to manage and motivate.
Experience with AS9100 standard.
Strong knowledge of aviation industry regulations and standards (i.e., FAA).
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
Strong communication / interpersonal skills to work effectively with all stakeholders.
Proficiency with management software and maintenance tracking systems.
Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies preferred.
