Primary Duty:

The Cellar Supervisor will oversee a team of process operators responsible for batching, blending, distillation, proofing, filtration, and other key stages of spirit alcohol production. This role ensures that the production environment runs efficiently, safely, and in compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements.

Reports:

Processing Manager Job Responsibilities Leadership & Team Management Lead and motivate the processing team to ensure safety, efficiency, and productivity. Provide daily direction and coaching while holding team members accountable for performance and behavior. Foster a positive, collaborative work environment focused on continuous improvement and high-quality output Production Oversight Supervise all activities related to the batching, blending, distillation, filtration, barreling, proofing, and carbonation of spirit-based beverages. Ensure all processing equipment is correctly operated, cleaned, maintained, and compliant. Oversee overall production record keeping and document control. Safety & Regulatory Compliance Ensure a safe working environment by enforcing all safety protocols and procedures. Maintain compliance with OSHA, TTB, and North Carolina State Environmental Hazard and County regulations. Confirm that all equipment is inspected, functional, and ready for safe use. Quality Assurance Ensure strict adherence to QC protocols and sampling procedures throughout the production process. Troubleshoot issues promptly and escalate concerns as needed. Process Improvement & Efficiency Identify and implement improvements in safety, quality, cost savings, and operational efficiency. Support strategic initiatives focused on increasing throughput and minimizing downtime or waste. Training & Development Train new and existing team members on equipment use, production processes, documentation control, and safety protocols. Support cross-training efforts and help build a skilled, versatile workforce. Coordination & Logistics Oversee processing material handling including receipt of raw ingredients and finished bulk liquid quantities (beverage totes and tanker trucks). Safely operate forklifts or other equipment as needed to support operations. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Bottling, QA/QC, Supply Chain, Beverage Development, Finance, Sales, and Logistics. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Basic mathematical calculations skills Ability to lift, carry and empty containers weighing up to 60 lbs. repeatedly Demonstrated organizational, detail orientation and observational skills Ability to read and follow oral and written instructions in the English language Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, often with limited supervision Preferred Qualifications & Qualities High School or Equivalency Diploma At least 1 year of experience leading a team in a manufacturing environment, ideally in the Food & Beverage Industry (Distilled Spirit Industry preferred) Previous forklift experience Proficiency using a personal computer (PC) and related software, ideally Microsoft Office Tools (Outlook, Word, Excel) Technical knowledge of distillation, batching, blending, and beverage cellar maintenance.
