We Are Looking For FDH Aero is a global leader in aerospace distribution and supply chain, with capabilities in electronics, hardware and aftermarket services. The General Manager, Cable Assembly will lead and oversee manufacturing and production operations for FDH’s cable assembly operation in Naugatuck, Connecticut and Wake Forest, North Carolina. This leader will be responsible for driving efficiency, quality, and scalability on the factory floor. This role demands a hands-on leader who will direct, plan, and optimize manufacturing operations while building and developing a high-performance production team. This leader will be accountable for operations performance and overseeing the hiring, training, and talent development of the operations team to align with business objectives. Success in this role requires relentless execution of process improvements, operational excellence and commitment to delivering results across the sites. What You’ll Do Manufacturing & Production Operations Lead day-to-day operations of cable assembly production, ensuring efficiency, safety, and quality. Oversee assembly processes, including cutting, stripping, crimping, soldering, and testing. Establish production schedule to achieve targets, consisting of multiple discrete teams within a two-shift environment Implement lean manufacturing principles to enhance productivity and minimize waste. Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards. Monitor and improve production schedules, throughput, and on-time delivery. Process Improvement & Quality Control Develop and enforce quality control standards to minimize defects and rework. Coordinate with the Quality function to achieve high first-pass quality production standards. Lead continuous improvement initiatives (Kaizen, Six Sigma, 5S, etc.) to optimize processes. Identify and implement automation and technology to enhance production efficiency. Analyze KPIs (yield rates, scrap rates, cycle times, etc.) and drive corrective actions. Workforce & Team Leadership Manage and develop a world-class production teams consisting of production managers, supervisors, leads and technicians. Ensure workforce training and certification programs for compliance and skill development. Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and operational excellence. Supply Chain & Supplier Coordination Collaborate with supply chain teams to ensure timely and cost-effective material sourcing and replenishment. Establish inventory kitting standards in coordination with the materials and warehouse function. Work with suppliers to optimize lead times, pricing, and quality standards. Ensure alignment of raw material supply with production demands. Facility & Equipment Management Oversee maintenance of equipment, tooling, and production infrastructure. Ensure compliance with workplace safety regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc.). Plan for capital expenditures to support capacity growth and new technology adoption. Compliance & Safety Maintain adherence to safety protocols, environmental standards, and regulatory requirements. Lead efforts to reduce workplace incidents and improve employee safety practices. What You Bring Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Technology, or a related field. Proven leadership experience in manufacturing and production operations, with a hands-on, factory-floor approach—this role requires a leader who thrives in the heart of the operation. Extensive experience in high-mix, low-volume or high-volume production environments, with a relentless focus on efficiency, quality, and throughput. Prior experience in aerospace industry and electronics manufacturing (wire, cable assembly, connector assembly) preferred. Expertise in manufacturing execution, supply chain coordination, and cost control, with a track record of measurable improvements in productivity and profitability. Proficiency in lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies to improve efficiency and optimize processes. Ability to lead from the front, tackling challenges on the production floor, ensuring adherence to operational standards, and pushing for accountability. Strong interpersonal and leadership presence, with the ability to train, motivate and challenge, people to achieve operational excellence. Knowledge of manufacturing regulatory standards (ISO, AS9100, IPC/WHMA-A-620, OSHA, etc.) and a commitment to maintaining compliance while improving operations. Problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to assess complex manufacturing issues and implement solutions . Project management abilities, capable of managing multiple priorities, meeting deadlines, and executing strategic initiatives. Effective communicator and collaborator, skilled in working cross-functionally with teams at all levels, from frontline workers to executive leadership.
