Position Summary:

The Assistant Foreman plays a key role in supporting the Foreman in managing daily on-site operations. This includes supervising the crew, ensuring safety compliance, coordinating tasks, and stepping in as the site lead when the Foreman is unavailable. The ideal candidate is a reliable team player with experience in landscape construction, equipment handling, and field team leadership. Key Responsibilities:

Assist the Foreman with supervising the field crew and delegating tasks. Lead job site preparation and daily set-up: safety checks, loading materials, organizing tools. Monitor team safety, productivity, and compliance with SSL standards. Serve as point-of-contact when the Foreman is unavailable. Run errands (e.g., picking up materials/tools) and ensure job site logistics are in place. Conduct minor training or guidance to new crew members. Assist with equipment operation and installation work, including grading, drainage, sod, planting, and hardscapes. Communicate with management regarding job site updates, material needs, or crew concerns. Maintain clean and safe work environments on trucks and job sites. Handle all tasks and responsibilities professionally, with attention to safety and quality.

Requirements:

Valid driver’s license and clean driving record. 1+ years of experience in landscaping, grading, or construction. Leadership or team lead experience preferred. Proficiency with landscape tools and light equipment (skid steer, mini excavator, etc.). Strong communication and team coordination skills. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to lift and carry at least 80 lbs, stand/kneel for extended periods. Ability to follow instructions, lead by example, and support team development.

Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with site plans, work orders, and material handling. Experience assisting in supervising crews or working as a crew lead. Background in landscape construction, irrigation, hardscapes and/or grading preferred.
