Summary:
Supervises a manufacturing production department which includes but is not limited to all aspects of employee performance and engagement. Creates daily work schedules, follows standard manufacturing procedures, and monitors work to meet product specifications and production targets. Resolves production problems and answers questions about processes, methods, or equipment. Delivers training for new processes or equipment and onboard new employees. Conducts quality testing on completed assemblies to validate tolerances and product specifications. Reviews daily production records to identify trends or potential performance issues.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Manages department’s workforce to meet production needs. Audits work processes and products to confirm production specifications are met. Maintains and updates production records and produces reports as necessary. Manages operation to maximize production of quality products and minimize cost. Responsible for ensuring that production output goals are met. Strives to ensure employee well-being by fostering a positive work environment. Coaches employees and holds them accountable for performance. Drives conflict resolution for employees. Coordinates department onboarding for all incoming associates. Ensures a smooth and effective shift turnover/handoff Responsible for the full employee life-cycle. Collaborates effectively w/cross•functional areas Coordinates workflows between production control and production floor. Works closely with dept associates, leads, understanding expectations knowing when to escalate to manager Identifies process problems Suggests/champions improvements in efficiencies and safety (quality) Ensures all safety , policies, and procedures are followed Documents metrics and KPIs for the dept/team Culture carrier by promoting Whelen values Scope Coordinates and supervises the daily activities of business or technical support of production team Sets priorities for the team to ensure task completion; coordinates work activities with other supervisors Decisions are guided by policies, procedures and business plan; receives guidance and oversight from manager Typically, does not spend more than 20% of time performing the work supervised
