GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Shift Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day production operations during irregular business hours. This includes managing available personnel and production lines, troubleshooting production problems, and assisting the production associates with training and/or special projects.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Manages production lines and schedules according to available materials and trained personnel Ensures quality and on time shipments of products Handles all personnel issues during the assigned shift including, but not limited to, call-offs, accident reporting, overtime administration and employee inquiries Troubleshoots and assists employees with general production and quality issues; determines how problems should be resolved Provides run cards and prints as needed; informs the Quality Team of any needed adjustments Communicates production problems, changes and related issues to the appropriate management team members Works with production associates to complete necessary training and evaluations; oversees cross-training as necessary Ensures production processes comply with GHS and
ISO14000
Enforces all safety policies and procedures as established by the Health & Safety Manager Manages emergency situations, including severe weather and plant evacuation
ADDITIONAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Communicates regularly with employees and handles customers needing assistance Participates in lean and continuous improvement projects Enforces policies and ensures lean concepts are utilized in day-to-day operations, including 5S, TPM, and kanbans. Completes and assists with special projects as directed Supports all

SKILLS & ABILITIES
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing Ability to prioritize projects on a daily, weekly and monthly basis Ability to make decisions regarding production needs and requirements Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and general computer skills are required
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Associate’s degree in management or equivalent experience Preferred 2+ years in a supervisor/management position Previous experience in a production environment required
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Physical Requirements:
Individual is frequently required to stand, sit, walk, bend and crouch to perform job duties. Must be able to operate production equipment, including adjustments to extruders and the manipulation of knobs, buttons, etc. Lifting of no more than 40 lbs. is required.
Visual Requirements:
Close visual work required. Ability to read information in a variety of formats.
Travel Requirements:
Minimal travel is required.
