Summary:

The Shipping Supervisor is responsible for all thefunctions of the movement of materials and product in and out ofthe facility while working closely with shop floor personnel andmanagement to maintain a continuous, safe and efficient workflow.

Qualifications:

Minimum of an associate degree (A.S.) with 5 yearsof related manufacturing experience in a supervisory role, orequivalent combination of education and experience. Ability toprovide leadership to and direct/review the work of /- 20 unionizedemployees. Must be willing and flexible enough to work 2nd or 3rdshift on occasion as business requires. Must have familiarity withMicrosoft Office Suite, with intermediate to advanced computerskills. Must have strong organizational skills; flexibility andability to coordinate multiple priorities. Displays an attitudeconducive to progress through positive change, continuousimprovement and active contributor to the teamwork concept.

Responsibilities/Duties:

Directly supervises union employees inaccordance with company’s policies, applicable laws, and unioncontract language. This includes, but not limited to, training,planning, assigning, directing, disciplining, rewarding, andappraising assigned workforce. Ensures the accurate reporting ofemployee time and accounts to be charged to payroll and finance.

Regularly communicates expectations, performance and other keyissues with team members. Serves as primary contact with shop andoffice personnel related to the integrity of material flow. Ensureseffective operation of packaging, shipping and receiving areas tomeet assigned goals. Assists shipping clerks and other personnelwhen needed to maintain consistent and efficient workflow. Assistsin maintaining metrics of shipping areas such as tonnage and laborstatistics using advanced computer programs such as Excel. Assistsin the development and implementation of safety, cost and qualityimprovement plans. Ensures the compliance of OSHA (OccupationalSafety and Health Administration), BRC (Brand Reputation ComplianceGlobal Standards), and SOP (Standard Operating Procedures)regulations and procedures. Holds department/shift responsible forquality checks, documentation, and monitoring.

Responsibilities/Duties (continued): Monitors machinery and checkpoints for efficiency, and coordinates efforts with maintenance forany issues or concerns. Makes sure that employees are performingtheir daily inspections on the physical condition of equipment aswell as housekeeping initiatives under assigned area. Oversees thein and out bound of raw materials ensuring it is organized andstored appropriately. Conducts monthly count/recounts of rawmaterials.
