Machine Shop Supervisor 3.5 3.5 out of 5 stars 70 Airport Road, Westerly, RI 02891 SUMMARY The supervisory position oversees CNC programming, machine tools, fabrication, and inspection personnel. The Supervisor possesses thorough knowledge of department processes to maintain a safe, clean work environment, collaborating with the Engineering Department on part design, setting priorities, efficiently scheduling personnel, confirming availability of material for work orders, sequencing work center production, diagnosing equipment malfunctions, recommending remedial action, and evaluating personnel.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Develops specifications from general description and draws sketch of part or product to be fabricated.
- Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
- Studies blueprints, sketches, CAD drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
- Possesses considerable knowledge of the machining qualities, properties, and uses of various metals and methods, practices, tools, and equipment of the machinist trade.
- Competent in the programming language of
MASTERCAM.
- Competent in the computer aided design software of AutoCAD and Solid Works.
- Proficient in
GLOBAL SHOP SOLUTIONS
Enterprise Resource Planning, or similar ERP software.
- Responsible for the storage, inventory, and care of holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, fluids, and materials on machine tools, welding equipment, and overhead hoists.
- Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications.
- Oversees set up and operation of machine tools on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
- Oversees machined replacement parts in mechanisms, machines, and equipment, and tests operation of unit to ensure functionality and performance.
- Manages the workflow of employees, creating schedules and delegating tasks.
- Evaluates and verifies employee performance through the review of completed work assignments and work techniques.
- Assesses the work performance of employees and identifies areas of improvement.
- Supervises the training and onboarding of new hires.
- Estimates the times required to manufacture a part using existing records or estimating skill.

$80,000.00 – $110,000.00 per year
