About Sigmatex:

Sigmatex is a leader in the design, development and manufacturer of carbon fiber textiles. Our products go into a diverse range of applications from commercial aerospace, military aircraft, rockets, automobiles to high-end sports products. Our business was established in the UK (head office) in 1986 and we now have three manufacturing bases covering Europe, US and Asia.

Sigmatex has been present in the US market since 1998. After a restructuring exercise in 2021 we consolidated our US manufacturing into a single site based in Orangeburg County, SC. Over the last three years we have grown from revenues of c.$10m to $30m, and within the next 5 years we are aiming to grow to over $50m.

Summary of role:

We are looking to recruit an experienced Production Supervisors who will be responsible for driving delivery of departmental objectives for safety, quality, cost, delivery (OTIF) and people. As a relatively young but fast-growing site, we need an assertive and driven production leadership team who has the tenacity and interpersonal skills to drive standardization across our production departments, will be effective in improving quality standards and increase productivity levels. You will operate as part of the production leadership team, reporting to the Production Manager.

Full description of the role:

As Production Supervisor you will have responsibility for running a successful shift by achieving the following:

Ensure safe working practices through the plant by adhering to safety policy requirements, pro-active safety management, applying risk reduction actions and taking a zero-tolerance approach to unsafe behaviors.

Setting clear expectations for product quality by applying robust training and assessment methods, developing standardized work practices, embracing continuous improvement initiatives and using data to drive process improvements.

Developing labor utilization plans to achieve targeted cost of production goals.

Owning the shift production plan and working to deliver On Time In Full (OTIF) levels at >95%Achieve daily and weekly Output targets across each production cellImplement strong people management actions to achieve a reliable and competent team, taking action where under-performance is observedChampion Operational Excellence within the manufacturing areas and a culture of continuous improvementAble to use technology and IT systems to support production improvementsSelf-motivated, with a strong work ethic and an ability follow the planBe assertive and able to manage people to achieve high standardsGood problem-solving skills and attention to detailUnderstanding of people management techniquesAny other duties as required by the Company.
