Job Description
Concrete Batchperson 3.3 3.3 out of 5 stars Little River, SC 29566 SUMMARY The successful candidate for this position will have a positive, professional demeanor, excellent interpersonal skills and will be able to work independently. The nature of the work will require that the candidate demonstrate initiative and responsibility and be flexible/adaptive to a fast-paced and fluid plant environment. The primary responsibility of this position is to batch concrete to meet production demands; ensure quality control and environmental compliance; and assist on the plant yard when needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintains the highest standard of quality and safety in all areas of production from manufacturing to shipment
- Performs the concrete batching operation
- Assists the plant manager in maintaining proper stock inventories (raw materials, machinery/vehicle parts, etc.)
- Assists in performing required plant environmental inspections and documenting properly
- Performs air checks and moisture checks
- Assists in maintaining a clean working area
- Must be able to open, close, and work Saturdays alone
- Must be able to run front end loader and pump tankers, when needed
- Required to work a schedule that varies from week to week; long hours during peak season; and weekends
- May be required to work at more than one location
QUALIFICATIONS
- Two years related experience and/or training
- A working knowledge of the programming functions of all current plant systems
- An understanding of all aspects of concrete production and the types of products produced
- An understanding of QC/QA for the ready mix concrete industry
- Must possess a DOT batch card or the ability to obtain one
- Knowledge of production equipment, production processes and maintenance programs
- A commitment to team concepts, a sense of ownership and urgency
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to deal professionally with all managers, employees, vendors and customers
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Working computer skills
