This role is responsible for leading and training team members, maintaining quality standards, troubleshooting issues, and achieving production targets and KPI’s.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Will include the following, but other duties may be assigned: Plans, organizes, and oversees production schedules to meet and/or exceed deadlines Communicates production goals and expectations, updates, and challens to team members. Ensures quality standards are met and adheres to quality policies and procedures. Working closely with the Quailty department, inspects and addresses product defects or discrepancies. Monitors production output and resolves any potential bottlenecks, delays or inefficiencies. Implements process improvements to optimize productivity. Leads and motivates production department to achieve KPI’s Trains, coaches, and develops staff ensuring adherence to safety and operational procedures. Manages shift schedules, attendance, and job assignments to ensure adequate staffing levels are maintained. Provides regular and ongoing performance feedback to employees and conduucts employee evaluations timely and consisten with company protocols and procedures. Leading by example, promotes and encourages compliance with all workplace safety guidelines and practices. Investigates and reports incidents, accidents, and near-misses implementing corrective actions where and when applicable. Prepares and/or presents various department reports regarding KPI and other department data daily, weekly, monthly, etc. Qualifications and Required Skills Bachelor’s degree in business administration, engineering, or a related field is preferred, but not required. An AS degree and/or previous experience will be considered in lieu of a BS degree. 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing setting and in a production supervisory role is required. Would prefer someone from within the rail industry and with job shop (low volume/high mix experience) experience. Knowledge of custom manufacturing operations including fabrication, welding, machining, assembly, testing, and manufacturing engineering helpful, but not required. Knowledge of and familiarty with lean manufacturing concepts and methodologies is required. Prefer someone with practical experience identifying and implementing process improvements utilizing lean concepts and methodologies. Green or black belt certification preferred. Solid knowledge and experience of ERP systems required, (LN) is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Experience driving change, especially around culture, will be paramount in this role. Must be a visible and energetic leader who interacts well with his/her team as well as cross-functional departments. Solid problem-solving and decision-making skills are required. Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills. Excellent organizational and time management abilities. Proficient in MS Office products, primarily Excel and PowerPoint.
