PM TITLE:
Shift Supervisor
POSITION OBJECTIVE
Leads the shift extrusion production team to accomplish daily production goals, for yield, quality, and efficiencies. Provides guidance to shift associates, mentor and coach associates to excel in job specific skills and production work quality. Conduct audits and inspections for workmanship, film quality, and process and equipment, or issue corrective actions as required, to solve the discrepancies.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma
Associate’s Degree preferred
Technical Training in industrial application
Minimum of five (5) years BOPP manufacturing experience in which three (3) years needs to be in a supervisory role. A college degree may substitute for up to three (3) years’ experience
Computer skills in Microsoft Office
Good communication skills, able to multi-task, calm demeanor, able to think through problems
Must be able to work in manufacturing environment (dust, noise and heat) which requires steel toe shoes, safety glasses and hearing protection
Must be able to deal with stressful situations, able to work hands on
Some nights and weekend work may be required
Authority and decision making for daily operations with guidance from Section Manager
Ensure consistent, dependable attendance and demonstrate a willingness to accommodate non-standard work hours as necessary
Capable of effectively managing job-related stress and fostering productive workplace interactions
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Deploy strong but compassioned leadership to meet production shift targets
Ensure that all work is performed with a mindset for safety first, and safety guidelines and procedures are adhered to
Coordinate the daily shift production schedule and work load among shift associates for extrusion and reclaim areas to meet production goals
Ensure that scheduled shift production meets all quality criteria and, for any deficiencies respond with mindful process change, or seek guidance from process specialist, or section manager
Oversee the shift production process; ensure that associates complete assigned workload in a safe and effective manner
Practice on the job mentoring and coaching techniques to increase production team skill sets and proficiency
Report shift performance and records pertaining to by daily shift production
Lead training and safety sessions to improve team skill set and safety awareness
Monitor process and equipment with a proactive and predictive mindset, to avoid interruptions and breakdowns, meeting quality and production goals
Trouble-shoot process and equipment as countermeasures to production troubles, and adjust process and equipment as needed
Monitor changes in process and equipment operation affecting film process behavior/appearance
Interact and communicate with slitting department and quality lab for contingent work and quality impacting extrusion production
Maintain accurate and up-to-date information for use in production reports/records
Ensure job site and equipment is free of hazards and that safety is a priority
Maintain good housekeeping practices
Assure SQF and GMP practices and guidelines are followed
Orienter-Resin delivery systems, extrusion, casting, MD orientation, TD orientation, post TD web handling, treatment, online recycling system and winding
RECYCLING-Separation of film from cores (guillotine) and bulk scrap materials, interim storage systems, operation of grinder and reclaim line
Provide annual and progression reviews of direct reports
