Position Summary:
The Industrial Sewing Training Associate is responsible for training new and existing employees on the proper use of industrial sewing machines and production techniques in accordance with company standards. This role plays a key part in supporting production quality, efficiency, and safety by ensuring all operators are properly trained and able to meet performance expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide hands-on training to new hires and cross-training to current employees on various industrial sewing techniques, machines, and processes. Demonstrate proper machine setup, operation, threading, and maintenance procedures. Understanding of patterns and pattern-making. Monitor trainees’ progress and provide regular feedback to help improve technique, speed, and accuracy. Evaluate operator performance and ensure they meet established quality and productivity standards. Collaborate with supervisors and quality teams to identify training needs and process improvements. Maintain training materials, records, and documentation for compliance and tracking purposes. Support a safe working environment by enforcing proper ergonomics and machine safety protocols. Assist with developing and updating training manuals and visual aids as needed.
Qualifications:
3+ years of hands-on experience operating industrial sewing machines in a manufacturing environment. Prior experience in training, coaching, or mentoring others in a production setting strongly preferred. Knowledge of a variety of fabrics, stitches, and sewing operations such as serging, topstitching, and hemming. Upholstery knowledge is a preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work well in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods. Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to operate sewing machines. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally.
