Job Description
Sewing Supervisor Sovereign America Industries, LLC Rainsville, AL 35986 Sovereign America currently has an immediate opening for an experienced and motivated Sewing Supervisor to lead and oversee daily sewing operations within our production facility. The Sewing Supervisor is responsible for managing a team of industrial sewing machine operators to ensure product quality, workflow efficiency, and timely completion of production targets. This role includes training new employees, monitoring work standards, coordinating materials, and assisting with hands-on sewing and equipment troubleshooting as needed. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial sewing, excellent communication skills, and leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
Essential Functions:
Supervise day-to-day operations of the sewing department, ensuring safety, quality, and productivity standards are met. Assign tasks and monitor employee performance to ensure production goals are achieved. Train new sewing operators and provide ongoing coaching to improve skills and efficiency. Ensure all sewing operations—including joining, reinforcing, and finishing—meet company quality standards. Oversee layout and cutting of materials using patterns, scissors, and/or cutting equipment. Conduct regular inspections of subassemblies and finished goods for defects or inconsistencies. Identify and report mechanical issues, production bottlenecks, or material shortages to leadership. Assist with machine setup, basic maintenance, and troubleshooting when needed. Enforce safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment. Collaborate with other departments to support production flow. Document production output and report on departmental performance. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum 2 years of industrial sewing experience with at least 6 months in a leadership position. Strong working knowledge of industrial sewing equipment. Ability to read and interpret production instructions, patterns, and measurements (including fractions). Proven ability to lead teams, resolve conflicts, and promote a positive work culture. Strong attention to detail. U. S. citizen. Solid interpersonal and communication skills. Must be willing to sign a company-issued Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) as a condition of employment.
