This position can effectively handle all job functions during the course of a shift or work schedule in all live shows and productions for Weather Group Television and other related initiatives. Accept new assignments and technological challenges as required to support future company initiatives and an ever-changing dynamic broadcasting environment. As this position supports a 24×7 news/weather environment, candidates must have the flexibility to work days, nights, overnights and weekends, extra hours and take on additional duties as needed and, at times, without advance notice. Successful operators are expected to ensure consistent and reliable operational performance at all times. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

FLOOR MANAGING

Perform daily technical facilities check of all cameras, prompter and set monitors during show setup Able to read and follow show rundown in Dalet Galaxy Give time cues to anchors and crew, ensure anchors are in correct studio positions during show Communicate changes to the studio anchors and crew during show When necessary, ensure all lights are on and if not, alert the Director and Prod. Mgr Be able to move set pieces into position and plug in electrical set pieces. Report equipment problems to Engineering. Inform the show director of equipment and or lighting problems. Mic on air talent and guests when necessary, and help troubleshoot studio audio equipment issues.

TELEPROMPTER

Load scripts into the correct prompter system via the newsroom system. Scroll through the script via a controller as the anchors read the scripts on air. Must be able to adjust to anchors ad-libbing and not reading the scripts. Must be able to follow show changes and position the script correctly in the teleprompter. Ability to read and follow show rundowns and scripts when necessary. UTILITY Expected to move set pieces or other staging items as needed for production needs. Assist with cable management of cameras during shows. Control and manipulate set pieces as needed Work with Lighting Director on staging and lighting maintenance or improvements Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall company operation Education, Experience, Certification Requirements Bachelor’s degree (Journalism, Communications or Business preferred) or equivalent. 1-3 years successful business experience in production and/or operational/team support experience with demonstrated achievements and responsibilities. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to effectively coordinate multiple tasks and react to spontaneous changes in priorities. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to keep a level head in hectic situations. Must have a strong desire to continually increase technical and operational proficiency. Must be a self-starter and be able to work independently. Must be able to lift and move equipment as required. Willing to work in a team environment on an as-needed basis. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Willingness to work alternate schedules required as this is a 24 / 7 work environment. Unquestionably high ethical standards and professionalism required. Customer-focused and team attitude required. Must be flexible and adaptable in an ever-changing environment. Ability to get along well with others, willing and able to deal with a diverse cultural & customer base in numerous types of challenging situations. Highly proficient with Google software applications and other software used by Production Operations teams. Physical Requirements Will be required to sit in a chair or be on their feet for 2

  • 4 hours at a time. Will be required to type on a keyboard for a period of 2
  • 3 hours. Will be required to look at a computer monitor and other monitors for a period of 2
  • 3 hours.

Some monitors could be as close as 2 ft and as far as 12 ft away. May be required to lift lighting fixtures, move scenery or other equipment. The weight may range from 20-100 lbs.
