Control Room Operator Full-time, Permanent On-Site Location:

Using HMI tools, you will monitor allincoming fiber, manage the drying processes and production ofpellets and finally the movement of pellets into railcars. As well,you must monitor and communicate any safety-related concerns eitherdirectly to plant employees or to the Plant Leadership team. Aspart of your duties, you will: Maintains Drax’s high standards ofhousekeeping within the department and with the participation ofall team members Utilizes SDS for all chemicals used in theproduction and ensures all employees are adequately trained ontheir use Complete all safety related Plant Operator DevelopmentProgram training requirements as required by each Level Participateand communicate on the company radio’s following Drax’s Radio UsageProcedure Maintain radio communication that is brief, clear, in anatural speaking voice and contains only essential instructions andInformation Active involvement in Drax OH&S CommitteeCommunicate and provide leadership to all employees through thePellet manufacturing process, promoting and supporting complianceto Safety, Production, Quality and operating policies andprocedures Maintain composure while leading, communicating anddirecting plant employees during times of upset conditionsincluding unsafe conditions or emergency evacuations Troubleshootboth minor and major upset conditions providing direction to plantemployees Provide technical training support and mentorship topeers as well as to Operators in the Plant Operator DevelopmentProgram Participate and provide leadership in training of mobileequipment, confined space, Hazard Identification, etc Participate,where required, in incident and accident investigation Coordinateholiday planning to ensure continual coverage of necessarypositions within the plant Liaise with other Drax managementincluding HR, Safety, Training and Senior Executives. Provideleadership and direction at all plant employees in the safeoperation of all equipment used in the process to make pellets.

This includes but is not limited to monitoring moistures, Pelletertemperatures, Pelleter in-feed speed, bulk densities, dryertemperatures, Scrubber operations, motor amps and all necessaryprocesses related to production. The operation of the plant startsat the scale, tippers and in-feed pads where the raw fiber isdelivered by truck Troubleshoot and make adjustments to the in-feedmixes and direct the Loader Operators according to type of fiberand moistures of the fiber Continually monitor and analyze HMIsystem Review notes with cross shift Operator at beginning and endof each shift communicating fiber mixes, overviews of equipmentefficiencies, expected delays or upset conditions Manage andcommunicate fiber needs coordinating with the Loader Operator aswell as with the Production Team Leads to ensure Pelleters haveenough fiber to continue production Communicate housekeeping needsto Utility that support all activities keeping the pellet millclean and mitigating unacceptable levels of dust accumulationConduct testing and complete necessary reports on moisture contentDirect and communicate to all employees on shift as to what mix isto be received and when to load rail cars Who you are? You possessthe following skills, abilities, and experience: Able to operatemobile equipment safely and efficiently Can complete forms andbasic checklists associated with cleanup and rail car loadingAdaptable to changes in work schedules or work tasks Must be a teamplayer with excellent interpersonal, analytical, problem solvingskills High school diploma or equivalent Experience in heavyindustry operations an asset Excellent interpersonal, oral andwritten skills Good mechanical aptitude Valid Driver’s licenseWhat’s it like to work at Drax?
